Go to the emergency room? Seriously? It's a fungal infection, not acute appendicitis.

Call your doctor and take his advice. Then call your vet and do likewise.

Above all, avoid Dr Google.

Ditto Peace, and please, keep in mind that nail polish and other home remedies are NOT gonna owrk on ringworm---including turpentine, etc. It's a fungus. THey've got stuff for it at the doc or the walk-in "urgent care". Most if not all home remedies will only make your skin irritated (more). My dad was big on the home-cure for things like chiggerse, ringworm, etc.

Lotrimin makes an antifungal specifically for ringworm for human use, but it's best to double-check with the doc (and get the vet on the dog's case) b/c ringworm in some locations won't respond to topical oinments. (Sometimes you can get the Lotrimin OTC, I think it's OTC in Canada?)

I know b/c I've had ringworm twice. Two guesses which time i saw the doc and got the lotion and was cleared up in a couple of days.... and the time as a kid when I was Dad's guinea pig. OMG. Forget it. I wound up losing the ringworm from the chemical burn I got from his "home remedies"! (Also have a scar to prove it. Lost serious skin.)

Also do not use any OTC or prescription medication (including topicals) or home remedies on your dog without checking with your vet first! A lot of human medications are processed or absorbed differently in animals and even small amounts of certain meds can be toxic or even fatal. Hope you all feel better soon!

Call your doctor or visit your pharmacist. Don't go to the ER and spend all of that money on something that you can get OTC

I had ringworm on my arm when I was in college many moons ago. It took me forever to get rid of it. I went to the Dr , but there were not over the counter antifungals like there are now 30 years later. If you have already used OTC Antifungals meant for ringworm I would definitely see your Dr . I agree with others on calling your vet before treating your dog - I. Learned about a lot of differences between humans and canines regarding meds when my dog had her surgery a few months ago.

Finally got them taken care of with clear nail polish! Old home remedy that worked like a charm!

Well, a lot of things work like charms.... but in my experience,charms don't work too well. That anti-hex symbol from my gran never did stop a seizure. Glad you're feeling better:-) How's the dog doing? Is his/her ringworm gone too?

An interesting fact, some ringworm glows under backlight :)

The dog won't let me put nail polish on him lol so he is getting bathed in anti fungal shampoo!

I did not know some ringworm glows under black light. Huh. Who knew? More funky fungus....

We took the skunked cat FlufferNutter right to the vet for her deskunking bath, but that was self-defense. She's not yet fully comfy being handled by humans after 3 years of our efforts, so... yeah, let someone else get the stitches, I've had my share!

How does someone get ringworm? Never had it.

Ringworm is just a fungus on the skin that often takes the shape of a ring. You can get it from touching another person or animal that has it. It is contagious
