So about a month ago I had an appointment with my foot doc for plantar fasciitis and bone spurs, I have insurance and he took xrays and said to come back to get my feet casted for insoles. My appointment for that was today. I walk in and there was this other patient waiting at the front desk, she said nobody is here except the Doctor. So we waited and waited, and then I went in the back and his door was opened so I asked him if the front desk person was here, he said no she had to leave and he would be right with us. So we waited some more. He finally came and got her and I waited another 40min and then he came and got me. I walked into the room and he said that the computers were down so he can't get my chart. I told him who I was and why I was there and he asked me what insurance I have, I said Regence, then he asked me how much my deductible was per year...lol what? I said uuummm $3,ooo, he then said have you paid that this year? I said no, he said then he can't help me until I come up with 1/2 the money for the insoles which would be $175. My jaw dropped, I said why didn't you tell me this on my last visit and why did you make me wait 40 minutes? I said I didn't get paid for another two weeks, (I only get paid once per month) He said sorry you will just have to reschedule when you get the money. WTF? What am I missing here? This has NEVER happened to me before. He just wasted my time. Is this a normal thing? What the hell good is insurance? OMG, I'm just beside myself, as if I don't have enough crap going on. Well I won't go back to him anytime soon. Thanks for listening. (((hugs)))
