I've been trying to talk my doctor into this. It totally makes sense to me. Please let us all know if you do this. WE'd all love to hear what happens.

This has been a treatment option for about 8 years. I'm pretty sure we've discussed this before too. It is also used to treat dementia and Alzheimer's. Not covered by insurance. Very expensive. We looked into it to help my Dad. If you don't continue to go for treatment the effect is lost. Great idea if you have the resources to use it. Take care.

Thanks for posting this. I actually remember reading about this before. I would love to try this treatment to see if it would help with my sleep disorder. I have gotten really good control of my fibromyalgia pain and have mostly mild fibro symptoms, but am still having issues getting deep, refreshing sleep.

With insurance not covering this and it being so expensive, I often wonder who uses it. Maybe the politicians and their families can afford it, but everyday people can't.

It is covered by insurance for specific conditions such as:

Air or gas embolism
Acute traumatic injury / Compartment Syndrome
Burns
Carbon Monoxide poisoning / Smoke Inhalation
Diabetic foot ulcers
Exceptional blood loss
Decompression sickness
Gas gangrene
Interstitial Cystitis
Necrotizing infections
Osteomyelitis (refractory)
Radiation necrosis
Severe anemia
Skin grafts / Skin Flaps (compromised)
Wound Healing

Treatment for other conditions such as fibromyalgia, lymes disease, and a whole host of others are considered off label and are not covered by insurance. Yes, it's expensive. Treatments range from $110-$300 in a hard chamber, and you need a minimum of 40 treatments. It's cheaper to use a soft chamber; however, a soft chamber may not be as effective.

I have done around 15 treatments. I have heard you need to do 30 or more to experience some sort of healing/symptom relief. As of half way through I haven't seen any sort of lasting change. I don't know if this helps anyone or not, but since I have done it thought I should post.

Hi Horse Chick. Thanks for sharing. I've been researching this recently and have a few questions for you. Did you use a hard or soft chamber? I know they used a hard one in the study. Also, if it was a soft chamber, did you use a mask while inside? How many treatments did you have per week? Were they spread out, or did you go in several days consecutively?
