Good morning. Bit of a weird long day yesterday. Pest control (we're almost done with fleas, we think...) and Mom flip-out-at-me-ness (parnaoia from brain damage, ugh) and a good visit with our own PeaceN2You (she says hi).
The Fibro/Pain Awareness walks are scheduled this year for May 13, if anyone wants to see if there's a walk in your area. THey're short ones. By short, I mean like 1 mile at most. I'll be at the Richmond walk. There's one in Chicago, a few other places. Or just wear a purple butterfly. Not sure how that got to represent, but I like both the color and the critter, so I'm good.
Here's the page for the Awareness day (many walks are on the 13th, as May 12 is a Friday).... https://www.facebook.com/NFMCPA/ This is a public page, you don't have to be on FB.

Today is the first day of Lunar New Year (Chinese New Year), and it's the YEar of the Rooster. Insert jokes here.
Traditions on this holiday include...
Decorating with red (a luck color)
Hanging out with family (not always so lucky)
Fairs, parades, and passing on red envelopes, to give luck to the recipients (it's more a "good wishes" thing)
Traditional foods, including fish (which sounds in some Chinese like teh word for luck/fortune), rice balls, and spring rolls.
Fireworks! Woot!

Do-not-dos on this day?
No begging. Nope. No. Dn't even ask for a loan. Bad luck.
It's a great day to be a spoiled brat, b/c a crying child might bring bad luck, so today, kids are shamelessly placated.
You don't wash, in case you wash away the good luck you accrued, until th efourth day after the New Year starts. (Errr.... Ew?)
You wear red underwear to ward off bad luck. And, if this lunar year matches your birth year sign (Rooster, this year, for example), you want to wear red undies every day all year. See, the year of your sign is bad luck for you. So Monkey years are bad for Monkey, etc.

Chinese zodiac has 12 signs, and I copied and pasted so if your birth year is there, you know your "sign". If you need to go back farther? Add twelve to your birth year (or 24 or 36) until you reach a listed year. This rotates every 12 years.

- Tiger: 2010, 1998, 1986, 1974, 1962
- Rabbit: 2011, 1999, 1987, 1975, 1963

Each one has its "traits", similar to the Western Zodiac signs (hey, baby, you an Aquarius, b/c you make my mouth water, an dsimilarly bad pickup lines in bars), and the animals have importance to ancient Chinese culture, either as domesticated critters, or in mythology, or b/c of their yin/yang principles. (Depends which website you believe.)

And now, with all that in your heads, I'm off to ... IMagine the lawyer's slow agonizing death in a pile of unexpected paperwork.... No no no, bad Leo...

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
I was in pain all night from standing on the concrete in our garage yesterday. I told hubby, none of that today. After church is a dinner and game day. I already told hubby that we are not going. I did not cook anything and my body can't take it.
Talk to ya more later.
I think that today is just going to be doing some laundry and napping. I hope that everyone is doing OK today.
ida, you are such a great friend, thank you so much. I sat next to a couple in the movies yesterday, they reminded me of you and your husband so much. LOL. I wanted to give her hug so bad, it just really reminded me of you. :-) I'm glad you got a lot of quality time with your husband, but I hope your pain is lower today. Hugs
I need to get ready for church. I hope to check back later in-between cleaning and grocery shopping, after church. Okay, that sounds like a lot.
Twin, good luck accomplishing all that! Sending you strength.
Ida, I hope you got your feet up and are relaxing.
Angela, your food sounds so good. Love the pulled pork and homemade sauce! Any future plans for moving here and becoming my neighbor? Everyone here would love you and your cooking! Especially if it has bbq sauce lol.
Fantod, sorry about the reaction to the pain med. I guess that's a flop then! I hope you find something that works soon. :(
I stepped on something at the beach that has my foot itching ever since (woke me up a bunch of times). The 1st beach we stopped at had a little wooded area we had to walk through with trees you guys on the mainland call "mesquite" but here are called kiawe (kee-uh-veh). THey have humungous thorns that are skinny needle-like and you have to watch where you're walking because if it punctures your foot, it's the most painful thing on the planet next to kidney stones. Hubby and I were pulling at least 6-10 of them out of our slippers but at least none made it all the way through to our skin, at least I thought...... because my foot has been itchy. I can't find any rash or jellyfish looking sting (in case I stepped on a jellyfish), but I do find a little dot that looks suspiciously like a small puncture wound. I have tested positive to mild allergies to mesquite before. So that's my little story about those nasty thorns.
My husband has been entering the bedroom between 4 - 5 am every morning after doing I don't know what. And fumbles around in the dark waking me up every time. I can't go back to sleep after that. I want to ask him what he's doing because it's so disturbing and now I fee like a zombie. Sometimes I ask myself why couldn't I have just found and married a normal guy. Sigh.
Angela, sorry your day is pain filled once again. Like a broken record, as we used to say before CDs came out. I hope you feel better as evening comes on.
Fantod, sorry you are itchy and feeling hungover. I can't have Morphine because I break out in an itchy rash from it. I had it once when I had my appendix out. Anyway, they need to find you something for pain. I hope they think of the right thing for you.
twinmom, thanks for your kind words. I hope today is a good one for you. How are your feet and legs today? I know they have been hurting you so much.
Blue, I hope your foot quits bothering you. Those thorns sound so nasty. I don't know what to say about your hubby waking you up so early in the morning. Not very considerate. Have a good Sunday....what's left of it.
Well, hubby started a horrible coughing spell (I think he has bronchitis again) while he was getting ready for church. He decided to stay home in case that would happen during church. I was already dressed for church, so I went by myself. First I stopped and picked up a cup of decaf coffee. Then heard a nice sermon, that was uplifting. I then stopped to pick up a few groceries, and had a panic attack while shopping. That's the 2nd time that has happened in a week. I came home and I was grumpy as he!! to my poor hubby. He asked what was wrong, and gave me a hug. I said I'm overwhelmed with getting our house ready, and moving, and finding a new house. He's been dealing with my mental health issues for over 35 years, so they don't phase him very much.
Anyway, I'm in a lot of pain and haven't done anything all day. The furnace quit working again, so hubby went and bought a bunch of furnace parts and is fixing it himself right now. I'm glad it happened with him home this time.
Take care, all. Have a nice night.
Blue, I can't believe you haven't asked your husband what the heck he is doing. There is no way I would stand for that. We would be separated a long time ago if my husband thought he could leave in the middle of the night and do whatever he wants. There is no trust (the foundation to a good relationship period). I say ask him! Are you worried what he will say or just don't want him to pick a fight. I can relate to that. Hugs and hoping that darn itchy foot stops soon.
ida, I'm really glad your hubby is there to work on the furnace. I'm also glad he understands your anxiety and frustration. If I would have done that, I would have been cussed out and ignored the rest of the day. Big hugs to you! My feet and legs always hurt unfortunately, I think it's gotten worse though. Physical exertion and walking always makes it worse, but lately I can just get up from bed and it goes straight to really bad. My doctor always told me I'd end up in a wheelchair, but I figured b/c I couldn't walk from nerve damage, not b/c it seriously hurts too much to walk. It's so hard to deal with and wrap my head around.
I just got back from grocery shopping, we did church this morning and now I need to finish some laundry and cleaning. I just want to sit down and not move.
My body is still throbbing, and I can't even get out of the chair to do anything...except get into a pair of flannel pjs. Hubby got the furnace fixed, and can even take a $50 part back to the store. He's taking a well deserved nap at the moment. It's pizza tonight. My dishes are piled high, and I never let that happen, but I'm in too much pain to stand there and wash them.
Leo - Wonderful that you got to see Peace again, I miss her and her words of wisdom. Fleas be gone!!!!!!!!!!!
Angela - I hope your pain is better. I always get hungry when you talk about the food you make. I am not much of a cook , but I try.
Hi Madeline - I hope you are having a good weekend
Lilmissy - I hope you get some sleep.
Twin - sounds like you need some down time and get your legs and feet up, if even for a hour, That is not encouraging that a Dr predicts you will end up in a w/c.
Blue - Sorry your PTSD claim didnt get approved. Can you appeal? Maybe your husband needs to sleep somewhere else in the house if he is going to disturb your sleep, Does he go out or piddle around the house ? I am a night owl myself , but I dont disturb anyone. I worked 3rd and 2nd shift for years.
Ida - Sounds like you did too much Saturday. I have anxiety problems too. Your husband is awesome.
Fantod - I hope the Doc can find a pain med you can tolerate before surgery. When is your surgery?
Shout out to Kel, Bear , and BBMom.
I had high hopes last night of going to the big store today, but I think the smaller
grocery store will be challenging enough.
Miki - I hope your flare is calming down.
Ida, hope your husband's cough goes away. Sorry you're having anxiety attacks. Those are the worse! I hope you can grab on to the sermon again somehow and find some comfort.
Twin, I hope you don't have to use a wheelchair... I can see how that would have you stressed out. But maybe a mobility chair can help reduce your pain when you're out and about doing long errands / tasks. My husband has been a night owl as long as I've known him. He goes out at night and / or will hang around the house at night cooking and watching movies. I just asked what he's been up to at that hour and he said he prefers the hall bathroom, not our masterbath??
Milily, yeah... he does both. I'm sorry you're still in pain. I hope you can heal soon. That fall had to have set you back some. :(
