I had to re-read your post twice before I got straight in my mind that you JUST found out about the lesion that was evident in 2007. I mean nothing by that except that it is obvious that you are upset - VERY upset, and you have every right to be.

I wish I had something helpful to say, but I'm pretty much reduced to WOW. What the hell were they thinking? Oh wait - thinking apparently didn't enter into it - thinking would have led to TALKING and that would have led to them TELLING you about the lesion, not in late 2008, but in 2007 when it was first seen on your MRI.

Sorry - it boggles the mind - but I've heard so many stories that sadly I'm no longer shocked to hear these things.

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this.

It was only after my cancer treatment that I started asking the doctors to see the reports and read them myself.

One of the things I like about my new primary care doctor is that they either give or send you a copy of any test results so you are informed and can ask questions.

I'm also going to see a new neurologist that not only wants the reports from test I have had but wants to look at the MRIs and read them himself.

I think we need to research the doctors we see to find out how they work or don't work.

I believe this happens to alot of us more then we realize.
I always get copies of my catscans etc. Thats how I found out I had a ovarian cyst because the urologist said "you look good"
You need to go back and question the dr that said your MRI was fine in 2007 of course someone else read your MRI and he was just telling you what the tech reported. I just dont think hosps really care or hire people that dont care either. Be ready I am sure they will claim it was fine in 2007, Incompetent medical field, its scary at times.

yes I would be "furious" also.. isnt it odd how docs or tech's overlook stuff like this..
and you will find the differnce if you have good insurance or not much insurance in your treatment and diag.. if you havent any insurance.. they overlook stuff on purpouse for they know you cant pay .. We live in a uncaring world these days..Im sorry ya had to go thru this kind of sick neglegence..i say investagate and call out who ever read your mri in o7.. good luck hun.. :)

I reviewed myself my MRI of 2007 and sure enough, T1, there it was. The appx size of a pencil eraser. NO MISTAKING THE WHITE SPOT! Now, the prior "radiologist" and believe me I use that term very loosely, reported all as normal in 2007. I rasied cain then and demanded a re-read, which I now wonder if it were actually done, as I was looking at my 2005 comparing the C-Spine region to 2007. I COULD SEE THERE WERE DIFFERENCES NOTABLE IN THEM AS DID MY OLDEST SON!

Supposed re-read again determined all was well and "normal" (again I use that term loosely).

SO I AM NOW taking my 2007 MRI and my NEW 2008 to my NEW neuro for comparison to see if there is "technically" any change. Now I know the new neurosurgeon is the top of the line, I checked and he said as did the radiologist that the T1 thing is not a "problem" requiring surgery and it is listed as benign. HOWEVER, it is still inexcusable as my legs are going numb and I am having pain that they never mentioned this in 2007.

2007 I was at a back woods hospital, if you can call it hospital, it's more like a joke with all in the area but if you're desperate at least they can get you a life flight. You should hope to be that desperate instead of staying there. It's only good for stitches and minor maladies. My dog gets better care at the vets. Maybe I should go to him???? ROFLOL I must laugh or choke someone.

Well, had to cancel my New Neuro apptmt today as I am home with sick kid. However, will phone his office and have him review/compare MRI of 2007 to 2008 as I got both copies mailed to him.

At least maybe he can call me later.

I think you have every right to be furious. i would certainly be looking into legal action, even if it's just to reprimand those idiots!

I had something similar happen a few years back, except it was a spot on my mammogram. The radiologist noted it and suggested it be watched...but neither he nor my OB/GYN notified me of it. I found out the following year after my annual mammogram showed it again, but double in size. Thankfully, biopsy showed no malignancy.

I made an appt and had a strong heart to heart with my dr. It's hard to be responsible for your health if you aren't given correct, complete facts. I could have easily had cancer for a year and not known it...my lesson is to see ALL lab reports for myself. I now ask for copies of everything. Sorry you are going through this. Lots of hugs.

HI, SMJ - Well, got CD's of MRI's and had neuro review. The original lesion must have only shown on the film, maybe due to time, or whatever. The CD showed nothing, thankfully. The new MRI shows a BENIGN HEMIGIOMA on T11 and neuor assured me it is nothing and probably been there all my life. As it is on the bone, it is of no concern as that means it is not growing/attaching to peripheral nerves. Thank God. Anyway, basically "medically" I qualify as healthy as a horse. I'm just sick enough to have it documented but not so severe that it is categorized.

DX = SEVERE FIBROYMYALGIA & PAROXSYMAL DYSKINESIA. So more meds to try to control symptoms.

Hi, So sorry for what you've had to go through & "who" you've had to deal with. I was a RN in my pre-fibro life, LOL Anyway, Everytime I get tests done, even routine blood tests--I ALWAYS ask my numbers. I always get copies of everything. They may fuss some, but frankly I don't give a sh*t! THIS IS MY LIFE THEY ARE DEALING WITH!!!! Just wanted to add my opinion--please try to always get a copy of all your tests results. We are owed that. They want their money, & they don't have a problem turning us over to collections when we're paying what we can.
