I just had to share with everyone how great my doctor's appointment went today with the orthopedist. I saw him a couple months ago when my neuro was sending me all over the place to get a Fibro diagnosis. The orthopedist, Dr. Jaffe, was the only doctor I talked to last year that really "got it." He asked me what has happened since I saw him last, and I told him about being sent to the Pain Clinic and how they wanted to put a spinal chord stimulator in my back. He flipped out. He said it would have been criminal for them to do that. He said the stimulator is for back injuries, not chronic pain, because it doesn't even take care of the whole body. I told him that's why I didn't want to have it because it didn't seem like it would take care of the problem. He said that Pain Clinics just want to throw narcotics at people and don't really listen. He spent time to talk to me about what was going on, and he took X-rays of my knees and hips. He said I have arthritis in my knee-caps, which I knew, and that I also have bone spurs on my left hip on the front and on the side. I told him that I had gone off of a lot of my medications but that I thought I really needed something for the arthritis pain, so I went back on the Meloxicam. I told him about the burning in my arms and legs and he said I really needed to go back on the Lyrica. I told him about how it made me feel groggy. He said that he didn't think I needed the Trazadone and the Lyrica and maybe that was too much for me to be on both. He's going to start me out on Lyrica at 25 mgs. along with the Trazadone for a couple weeks and then up the Lyrica and decrease the Trazadone and see how that goes. He said that we would need to work on what medications and dosages were best for me and I understood that. It seems like he can do surgeries if I need it, but will work to find ways to help me and use surgery as a last resort. He told me that he has a good round-about knowledge of a lot of things, but he doesn't know everything. If he doesn't know how to treat something, he will send me to a good doctor. I'm just so glad I've started seeing him. I'm just ecstatic.

Today (August 8) is INternational Cat Day. Don't click away! International DOG day is August 26! Both were created to raise aweareness and funds for the well-being of critters. We have many such dayts, to the pint that every day is like an old Catholic saints' day calendar: Take your pick!I'm home, obvs, and still ill. Left calf and foot not great after a tangle-fall, but i'll live. Just can't...

I'nm exhausted. This doxycycline thing has ripped me apart and I'm eating crackers and water. I can't take (anything) or eat (anything) except saltines and toast and maybe unbuttered watery mashed potatoes. Are we sure the cure isn't worse than the possible disease?!?!And a week to go. ***Fun cures that WERE worse than the disease:ARsenic. Popular against STDs, which just compounded misery...

I take Trazadone to help me sleep deeper , but it doesn't help me fall asleep. Trazadone has a long half life, so it could make you tired the next day.
The pain clinics where I live do not prescribe pain meds. They are all about needles and steroid shots.
I am glad you are not getting the spinal chord stimulator - didn't seem like the right thing..
