Hey all you warriors! Each one of you is strong and amazing to be going through this battle. Don't forget that!
So while one doctor thinks I have fibro, another thinks that while I could have fibro, there is a good chance I have MS. I had an EMG about a month ago that my neurologist said looked pretty normal. But now another doctor wants me to get a brain scan. Do fibro and MS symptoms usually present similarly? Does an emg help with diagnosing MS or not really? I know you guys may not know much about MS but I figured you probably had some sort of testing for it done before getting your fibro diagnosis.
I'm just scared. It is hard adjusting to the fact that I am only 21 and probably have a chronic illness.
That being said, I'm trying to be positive anyway.
3 things I am grateful for right now: my precious snuggly dog, parents who are sacrificing a lot to help me, my amazing and encouraging friends who have stuck through this with me.
What are 3 things you are grateful for in spite of your fibro?

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. MS is a lot more manageable and treatable these days. Usually, an EMG and a brain scan are done for MS. The symptoms can be similar but MS presents with brain lesions. I'd try not to worry about it until you have a firm diagnosis. Then educate yourself. Keep your friends close and enemies closer.
I'm grateful for a roof over my head, a supportive and loving partner and the folks on DS who take the time to share their lives and care about strangers.
You'll get through this. Keep your chin up and let us know how we can help.
I am grateful for my two beautiful teenagers, a supportive husband (currently in Afghanistan, but still supportive) and that I have a good job, housing and food on the table. I guess that is more than 3, but I have a lot to be thankful for.
Keep your head up and as Fantod said, let us know how we can help.
With MS possibly along with Fibromyalgia. I was originally told I had MS had an MRI which showed several lesions in the white matter so I was sent o the Neurologist who quickly dismissed the " MS at this time" saying they would wait to see if there were more lesions developed later, I was tested for everything they could think of from Lupus to Lyme disease and everything in between. Everything came back fine. I got frustrated with his lack of diagnosis and was then referred to a Rheumatologist who diagnosed Fibromyalgia and Osteo Arthritis. I have had good luck at reducing my severe pains with Cymbalta so far. I still wonder about the MS but until I have further relapses I try not to worry.
I am thankful for finally getting some relief, for my kids who have given me a good reason to keep looking for answers so I can keep up with them! Good luck to you!
