Hi all, well it looks like I will be having surgery on my thyroid soon, I have many nodules on my thyroid and it may or may not be cancer. My question is.....I have heard that surgery can bring on Fibro or make it worse, has anyone had experience with this? Thanks for your help. (((hugs)))

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Good luck on your surgery, I feel like everything is going to be okay. so don't worry about anything.
I had a friend w/ a thyroid tumor and she underwent removal of thyroid and parathyroid and was given appropriate thyroid med. afterwards. Her incision was tiny, her recovery was quick, and her body was finally getting the correct amount of thyroid hormone w/ out getting confused by a compromised endocrine gland. She felt much better not very long afterwards. Plus she had the relief of knowing they had been able to solve the problem.
Now she is not a fibromite, but wanted to tell you this story because maybe your procedure will be a good, mild, positive experience for your body and would thus not kick up an ongoing flare, but help your fibro to be easier to manage.
Just wanted to toss out an optimistic scenario. I'm no physician, but please don't psych yourself out ahead of time about something that may improve your health.
I have been thru the "may or may not be cancer" thing several times myself. I hope you are able to stay positive and not dwell on it too much until you know more. It can make ya crazzzy!!
I will keep you in my prayers for sure!!
Stay strong. Blessings,
Melissa :o)
Just make sure that you tell everyone involved in the procedure that you have Fibromyalgia. You should not be left in any one position for too long or have your arms extended away from your body.
I also feel very positive about the outcome of your surgery. Try not to worry. We're rooting for you!
Good Luck with your surgery.
