Well, I survived!
I had already cancelled an appt for this test after reading many many reports of people having horrible pain
during this test.
Im already in pain from fibro, why cant I skip this test?
The regular test was iffy for carpal tunnel.
My sister in Christ had this done and said I could do it too.
I took a pain pill before I got there and my friend stayed in the room while the test was done.
IF I DIDNT HAVE FIBRO and if I DIDNT HAVE CARPAL tunnel, I am sure the test would have been pain free.
But since I have both, I am very pleased that I took a pill and I took one after.
I have “mild” carpal tunnel in both wrists.
Surgery is in my future, I dont know when....
I would highly recommend that anyone having to take this EMG test to take a pain pill before hand,
one after and then ice your sore spots if you have any when you get home.
Theres no reason you cant and it doesnt interfere with the test.
I had a spot on my thumb that was inflamed for about a half hour, I just put my cold water bottle on it to calm it down.
Then I had a steroid shot in my right shoulder, that went very well and very pain free!
Iced my shoulder, relaxed with a nice shower and went to bed.
Today I have a couple of small bruises where the probes where, they were not painful.
More like accupuncture, not a big deal.
The electric shocks lasted less than 1/2 a second, which is a very good thing!
So, if you have carpal tunnel, you can do something for the pain!
Now, my hands have spasmed into the photo above and the I am taking a muscle relaxer for that.
Has happened only a few times, thank You God!
Fibro is just a very strange strange disease.....
