For the past two weeks I've been feeling absolutely horrible. I was in a really bad flare two weeks ago that lasted 5 days. I couldn't get out of bed for the life of me..now the past week and a half, every time I eat something my stomach hurts, when its past 10pm, I'll start getting incredibly achy, then when I try falling asleep, I'll shake and have to lay only on my back to feel better.. I can't even sleep through the night anymore. I feel as though my body is falling apart. I haven't been seeing my acupuncturist because I quit my job.. and I don't want to take meds, nor can I afford them.. I don't know what to do. I exercised every single idea that was thrown at me to ease the pain, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have good coping skills that work in this situation?

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Maybe instead of exercising every day, do it three times a week and in between, do some gentle stretching. That might help your muscles recover some. Not overdoing it with anything that you do, is part of the key of dealing with this. It's a hard lesson to apply, believe me, I know, but it does help. Warm Hugs,

By refusing to take medication, you are allowing this syndrome to place an incrediable amount of stress on your body as a whole. All of the pharmaceutical companies offer assistance to people who can not afford medication. Your local hospital probably has a low cost clinic for people who don't have insurance.
There are three primary medications used to treat FMS: Cymbalta, Savella and Lyrica. You also need a sleep medication. The latter is a critical part of treatment. You are young, newly married and deserve a better quality of life. I urge you to rethink your posiiton and find a way to get medical help. Take care.

There are medications available that are not costly - your doctor or clinic will know which ones they are.
If I had a reasonable choice I'd live my life without medication, but given the circumstances it's not a reasonable choice.
