Wow, I'm glad everyone is ok, earthquakes scare me even. More than tornados.

I live in Illinois, and we had a tiny one last year and people freaked out. It happened around 4am, and I had just fallen asleep. My roommates freaked out. One of them called me on my cellphone and that's what woke me up. I felt the vibration, but I thought it was my craftmatic bed and that I accidentally turned on the massage thingy. The funny part is, my bed had been unplugged for a while. My roommates and I laugh about that whenever it comes up.

I know earthquakes are no laughing matter and I'm glad everyone is ok.

I actually was watching the World Series when the LA quake hit during a game years ago so I know what the SoCal earthquakes look like. Compared to that, this was kind of like a butterfly's wings brushed by us. I still remember watching them pull bodies out where the double-decker freeway collapsed and cars were trapped.

LeoX3 glad you're OK and hope those folks who had damage can recover quickly. Culpeper has some pretty old buildings I think.

The only building I know of here that had significant damage was very old and it looks like the mortar between the bricks was deteriorated. It might have sat there for another 100 years except for the quake!

I know a lot of people are talking about who felt the quake, but I want to know who FELT it in their bodies. I got a horrific headache, just prior to and then my face and neck hurt horribly during and immediately following. I didn't know if there could of been some correlation or not. But it was intense.

Just heard on the news that the Washington Monument is closed because of cracks found from the earthquake.

Anna2662, My Friends Mom Told me Just before the Quake hit that the Sides of her Eyes Started Tingling, Sparking, This used to happen to her when she Lived in Cal. Right Before a Quake, so she KNEW what was about to happen..Very Cool !!

I lived in Missouri in the early '80s and they were retrofitting the whole area , Tx, Il, Ks Ark etc because of a super fault line that runs through the states there. I was told that it would make California pale by comparison. I have been through some scary ones here in California Berkeley area! Y'all stay safe back home. Okay?!

I was just putting my bathing suit on and I felt by bedroom shake. I thought I was going out of the picture...and all I could think of is that my family would find me literally in my "Birthday" suit. What a sight that would be!!! Thank God all is well...

Aftershock woke me up around 1 AM. Argh! I was sacked out, too...

I should've known the quake was coming. The birds all flew out of the trees in the backyard a couple seconds before I could hear/feel anything, but they do that if there's a hawk or cat around, too...

I am just so glad no one has been seriously hurt or killed. Thank God!
