You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.

I called my Neurologist on Friday to get the results if my EEG. It was "normal." I asked how to proceed with care? They had to call me back.
Second phone call, "See your pain management doctor." Me: "I don't have one. The one you sent me to saw me for five minutes and then discharged me." "So you do not have pain management?" Me: "No. I have not this whole time." We'll call you back.
Third call,"You were referred to doctor so and so by pain management. It is up to you to see him." Me: "I was referred for a test only. The same EMG you did in your office. My insurance company isn't going to pay for two." We'll call you back.
Fourth call, "Mrs Puppy Mom, you have a back problem that neurosurgeon says does not require surgery. Pain management is not treating you because you have a leg problem. Your MRI is normal. Your EEG is normal. Your problem is not neurologic. (OK, so what about my EMG? No mention.)We suggest you seek treatment for your leg. If you lose the ability to speak, go to the ER." Me, smart aleck taking over, " Go to the ER and say what? That you guys have been looking into this for two months and have run two tests so it's not neurologic, but you said they have to figure it out? And, by the way since no communication is taking place here, I have been under the treatment of Metro Ortho Hospital for several weeks for my leg. They are encouraging me to pursue treatment of these other symptoms which they say cannot be related to what is happening in my leg." Dead silence. Then she starts repeating loudly, "YOUR problems are not neurologic. Go to the ER." I thanked her for calling me back, told her I did not appreciate my time being wasted ( the whole time she is still on repeat) and said that I would follow up with my primary care.
I see my primary in a week. I have not had the ability to speak all day, woke up this way, and when I do try to talk I am so slurred my family doesn't understand. It started about one a week. Now it happens 3-4 times a week. It brings memory loss with it and extreme emotional distress. I now have constant flashing lights in my vision and extreme sensitivity to sounds. It is very much like all my migraine symptoms but without the headache and - usually- puking. Does anyone else get this?
And isn't Fibro neurologic?

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

So my leg is degeneration in the knee which has become so inflamed it then inflamed my femur and all the muscles in the top of my leg from knee up are strained. It may also be compromising a nerve and or blood vessel to my calf, which is why my lower leg feels asleep or numb. Then there is also the neuropathy, which goes to my knees, and who knows how that all plays together? But at any rate, it should have been a fairly straightforward diagnosis based on my MRI. Problem was it took from April until September to get the MRI.
At any rate, the knee is being treated. I just need help for the neuropathy and treatment for these other symptoms. I do anticipate lifestyle changes in the future, but we are all old pros at that.
Hey I used to have migraines that lasted for weeks with flashing lights (still get the lights without headaches even today) and memory loss. But no slurred speech or leg issues. I do notice there are days I still have trouble sounding out and spelling even the simplest word and blanking out the name of objects. It's so frustrating. I don't know if I have anything related to what you have, but for years the neurologist kept giving me a psych referral saying I was hallucinating or delusional. Years later I was finally diagnosed with ocular migraines during an annual eye exam by a new eye doc. I was so happy it was given a name and I wasn't CRAZY after all.
