I know, I'm a day late, and daylight savings time ended yesterday. A lot of people wonder why the hell we still change the clocks twice a year, and the tl;dr version is that people can't agree on how to do that. 48 states change from standard time to DST and back again-the ones that don't are Arizona and Hawaii. Both states have permanent standard time, which is the same time as the rest of the country right now. It's actually illegal for states to permanently adopt DST without a federal law allowing it (legislation passed in the senate in 2022, but hasn’t made progress in the house of Representatives), but adopting standard time is perfectly fine. Seems weird, right? The reason is because experts have determined that standard time is less detrimental to our health. Personally, I hate how early it gets dark during standard time, but apparently in some places, permanent DST would mean the sun rises at like 9:30 am...and even I have to admit, that would really suck. About 20 states have triggered laws allowing them to permanently adopt DST if a federal law passes, some of which are also dependent on what neighboring states do. I hope if federal law ever changes, that it requires all states to be on the same time. I know this may be less of an issue elsewhere, but I live close to a state line and I work in another state 3 days a week. If either MA or NH decided not to observe DST, it would be confusing AF. Again, likely more of an issue in new England where the states are small and less spread out; a lot of people live in southern NH and work in MA. I'd imagine fewer people live in Arizona and commute to new Mexico for work. But regardless, it's probably less complicated for at least the continental US to be on the same time. Hawaii and Alaska can do their own thing-they're in a different time zone than the rest of the country anyway.
Anyway..I need to get ready for work. Not looking forward to working with Jackie, and I hope she's not in a bad mood. Didn't sleep enough this weekend and my patience is wearing thin. Doesn't help that it's freezing this morning...there's times I absolutely love living in NH, and there's times when I wonder why I didn't move.
Gonna look at this photo of the lake near my house to remind myself why I like it here. This is a 5 minute walk from my house:

I brought Miki down, this is as close as she would get. Too much water in one place is very suspicious. At least she didn't bark at the water like she did when she saw the ocean for the first time (she's from land locked northern MS)...those waves were out to get her

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...

Mom was transferred to the hospital Saturday night. Her bloodwork indicated a very serious infection developing. Her back is a mess.
She’s holding her own but it’s been really, really hard on her. I spent hours there yesterday and again today. The hospital staff has been incredible. Today, she got a state of the art air bed which was a special order.
Got my high dose flu shot today. Came home and went to bed. I had a bad night, our weather is fluctuating and I’m tired.
Miki - I hope that Jackie wasn’t too obnoxious today.
Leo - Enjoy your trip!
Waves!
Miki - The pics of the lake are pretty. The 3 dogs I had as an adult loved all Lakes including Lake Michigan but hated hoses, sprinklers. 1 was terrified of the bathtub and 1 would hide in the bathtub during storms and any thunder. Around here a lot of people like the time change this time of year because then the bus stops for the school children are not dark in the morning. I dont like it getting dark so early though.
Fantod - I am sorry your Mom is having such a rough time. Did she get a no pressure bed ? The weather is making my overall pains worse and my joints, and my neck and upper back is very unhappy - thats all LOL.
I finally got my much needed haircut today. I got 3 inches taken off and it feels good . It was too long. I like my haircut lady but she talks constantly without taking a breath between , I think there is something wrong with her. I have to come home and decompress in silence for an hour afterward because I get so overstimulated. But she is nice, and cuts hair good and I only get a haircut 2x year.
I cant wait for tomorrows voting to be over. I am tired of being harrassed by phone, mail, and the TV constantly re the elections.
Have a good sleep.
