Hi, I'm new to this group but not to Fibro, I'm in my late 50s now but have been dealing with pain issues since I was in my early 30s, Drs could never pinpoint any exact thing causing the pain so it was always here take these anti inflammatories or muscle relaxers, it wasnt until my 40s that a few drs mentioned that it could be fibro, but I just dealt with the pain & got through life, but when I hit 50 & menopause set in & I was dealing with ALOT of stressful things in my life the body pain, anxiety, insomnia, stomach issues etc. Kicked into high gear! Anyways fast forward 7 years I now have a diff insur & a diff dr. Shes great & wants you be proactive with addressing the Fibro, shes given me cymbalta which I haven't started yet, I'm so scared of side effects being worse than the benefit, does anyone have any experience with this drug for Fibro?

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...

Well..my thyroid might be a problem. I have a high TSH but normal T4. TSH increases when your thyroid isn't producing enough thyroid hormones...if only the TSH is high, it could be early or subclinical. Will wait and see if they want to do anything about that or just recheck it at some point. Either it'll even out or my T4 will drop. Meanwhile it's hot and I'm working with Karen, and I have no...

I've been on a low dose of Cymbalta for years. I'm medication intolerant so I generally don't/can't take a standard dosage of anything. It helps with my pain and I would be even more uncomfortable without it.
The longer a chronic pain cycle continues the harder it becomes to manage or stop. Don't expect instant results. It could take several weeks to notice a change in your symptoms. Cymbalta may not work for you. There are other options such as Lyrica, Savella. muscle relaxers or Gabapentin. We are all on different medication cocktails. This is just one of the reasons that Fibromyalgia is so hard to treat.
All medications have side effects. Because of today's litigious society drug manufacturers are required to list every possible scenario. That doesn't mean it is going to happen to you. But, be prepared to feel groggy for a couple of weeks. Stay well hydrated with water and tough it out.
Consider getting a sleep study done too. Fibromyalgia interrupts the deep sleep cycle with short bursts of high intensity brain activity. No deep sleep means higher levels of pain. Restorative sleep is a critical part of managing Fibromyalgia. The majority of us take either a prescribed sleep medication or an OTC to try an insure a solid night of sleep.
If you don't have it, I'd encourage you to purchase the book "Fibromyalgia for Dummies." You can find it on Amazon. It will provide you with a comprehensive overview of this complex disease and a lot of ways to try and manage it.
Good luck to you and take care.
My usual routine is to take either Calms Forte OR Alteril and add one tablet of MidNite too. None of these cause a hangover the next morning. And, if I wake up I can take more MidNight.
Some people like just plain old Melatonin. That gives me a bad hangover. I tried NyQuil Zzzzs too. Was up all night. It has the primary ingredient of Benadryl which apparently doesn’t agree with me either.
Pretty much, you will have to experiment to see what works for you. Just pick a time/weekend when it doesn’t matter if you are face planted on the bed all day. Make sure that you understand any potential side effects and drink lots of water. Take care.
