Basically, I'm just venting here. I'm alone in the house and suffering a bad Costochondritis 'attack.' I do not begrudge my partner for going to the Minnesota State Fair. It's the last weekend of the Fair, and she wanted to take her mother to see the horses. (Her mother has Alzheimer's.) I want them to have fun, which is why I didn't say anything about how I'm feeling. Her staying home would not have helped. The pain (a throbbing chest pain that is bringing tears to my eyes) would still be here.
And yet, I'm finding it much easier to feel sorry for myself when I'm in pain AND alone. So, to nip that in the bud, I thought it might help to post on this board because I know there are fellow Costo sufferers here.
I'm using the ice and heat method and I've taken Ibuprofen. I see my doctor next week and I'm going to ask him about the other remedies I've seen on this site.
So, that's it. Thanks for being here and letting me vent.

So there's a Bigfoot festival going on soon and Hubby is soooo enthused.I've spent so much of my life outdoors. I'm 99% sure their whoops and thumps and such are probably people up to no good tryihng to scare other folisk outta the woods without getting in trouble. Why do I say that? There's moonshiners in my DNA. And people who've lived in the forests since before white folks. If something was out...

Fun facts to up your day:The Big Bang wasn't IN space... it was OF space. How does that happen? Well, now you know why I'm NOT a physicist. Cuz I dunno. It just happened. Thena gain a new hypothesis is that our "black energy/matter" is actually waste dumped in our universe from somewhere else's black holes. How and all that? Don't ask. You start getting all "The Matrix" and muttering...

The way it was explained to me by my doctor is: 'Inflammation of the cartilage where the rib meets the sternum.'
The pain in the chest mimics heart attack pain in a lot of ways. The best way I can describe it, for me, it's like a fist opening and closing in your chest. Breathing becomes shallow because taking a deep breath is impossible because of the pain. The pain also radiates to the upper back. When I'm suffering an attack, it's impossible to find a position in bed that is comfortable and I basically just try to fall asleep to escape it.
That said, it often takes codeine or something stronger than NSAIDs. There isn't much to hurry yourself better. Try not to stress. Hyperventilation isn't good. And rest.
Hope you feel better.
I like Curamin which is made by Terry Naturally. It is excellent for inflammatory pain. You can read about it online. It can be purchased on Amazon or the Vitamin Shoppe. Talk to your doctor about it. Take a print out because they have probably never heard of it.
Other than that, heating pad and Arnica gel (muscle rub - Amazon/Vitamin Shoppe). I usually try to find something to read or watch as a distraction. If all else fails, chocolate. Feel better soon!
