Im kinda glad iI have a strong pill fear.. i sufffer but.. so many
sound like a exciting time coming to the us for a wedding.. bsst wishes hun.. and god bless.....
This is a tough one. I have never been on Effexor, so I can only speak vaguely.
I have been on different meds (Cymbalta being one and Lyrica being another) where I got irregular heart beats. I went off of them, rather quickly because of the heart palpitations. But when I went off of the Cymbalta and Lyrica, I had to have a few days of taking nothing, so that they worked themselves out of my system.
IF that would be the case with you, I would wait until I got back from the wedding or begin the weaning yourself off while you are away
On the other hand, The air pressure from the plane during a 6 hour flight, is going to mess with your system, so, you need to consider that also.
If I were you, I would talk to the doc about it all and then make my decision
Hugs,
Robin
you all make such good points that maybe i should wait till i get back. but it is my heart... but the cardiologist hasn't really found anything wrong with my heart just that it's too high. he didn't make a big deal about it, other than taking me off the meds. i saw the rheumatologist about what the cardiologist suggested and the rheumy didn't think it was a big deal either. they didn't tell me i had to do this asap or anything. i guess that's why i'm asking all of you since most of you may have been thru a med change or 2.
Trish, i can't just get off of it and then not take anything. before i started effexor i was in such severe pain all the time, i was bed written most of the time. i mean i couldn't even get out of to feed my self for days and it would go on for weeks at a time! Lord knows i can't go back to days like that! uh-uh... nope! but waiting till i get back Does sound like a good idea. theres no telling how long it would take to adjust to this change and that's even if my body can tolerate cymbalta.
pepper, yes my effexor comes in pill form! oh wow you are so smart! cutting them in half is a genius idea! why didn't i think of that?? thanks so much!!!
you all rock and i SO appreciate the awesome advice!
Good luck - I hope it all works out without too much stress or withdrawal symptoms.
About the pill splitting.....make sure there is a score in the pill before splitting it. If there is, then the pill has equal amounts of active ingredients on both sides. If not, then you may end up with no active ingredient for a day which could throw you into a withdrawl fast and hard.
I agree with the others if you can, wait until you get back. LOL...Lord knows if it were me, I'd land myself in some strange hospital freaking myself out with worry.
I hope you enjoy your trip hun. And to adjust to the climate shock...just go hang out by the dairy/ freezer section at the store for a few hours each day! If anyone asks...just tell them you are waiting in line for some samples....just look all hungry! =)
HUGS!
lol about the freezer section!
Nothing else to add....others have given great advice.....just wanted to wish you well with the change in meds, and have a WONDERFUL trip!!
HUGS
\ I have been on Cymbalta with Lyrica for a year and I have very little pain. However, the Cymbalta made me very sleepy when I started it, so I would wait until you get back.
Have a blessed trip!
