Do they make sports bras that you could put on one handed? Or how about the bras that hook in the front? IDK. I'm sorry I've never had that surgery. I just know that whenever I get frustrated with bras I take a break and wear sports bras for a few days. I've been a DD for a long time and then after losing some weight I came down to a D so I understand how you have to wear one.

I had a partially torn rotator cuff once, no surgery, and OMG, front-hook sport bras are awesome! I went up to a D with fibrocystic breast disease (ack) from a B (sigh) and yeah, my no-support days are lonnnng gone.

I never waer regular bras now, it's all sports bras, but my regular ones are front-hooks just on principle. So much easier.

Another option is a soft-support camisole, if it won't interfere with bandages or scars.

And if a bra itself is the problem---they have bras for strapless dresses that are backless, and are boned in the front, with wired cups for support. Formal wear departments have those. I had one for a dress once, it wasn't super-comfy on my ribs but it gave me support and coverage without anything on my back. Given the bridesmaid dresses I had to wear in the day, a godsend.

Worse comes to worst? My GP recommended atheletic tape once. Never tried it myself, but if I get desperate, hey, whatever works.

BTW, don't worry about the intro involving a bra, LOL. We intro ourselves talking about sex, IBS, pain, meds, meltdowns, you name it. We're a very open board, no problem:-)

My understanding is that it will be about two weeks before you will be able to tolerate wearing a bra. I'd try a camisole with some support and maybe layer for more coverage if you are not comfortable with that. Past that point, a bra that fastens in the front or pulls on should do the trick. I hope that your procedure goes well. Speedy recovery!

Bras are very uncomfortable for me. I usually go without around home. When I have to go out, I layer, tank top, tshirt then a light sweater.

I suggest front closure, too. When my shoulder was frozen, hooking a bra was painful. Pull on bras were impossible to manage. Going w/o is not an option for me unless home.

My husband is having rotator cuff surgery on September 11th. I will remind him how lucky he is not to have to wear a bra. :)

I am having a lot of issues with my shoulders also. I find that turning the bra to the front so I can hook it in front of my body then twist it to my back and flip the bra up and put my bosoms in the cups while put my arms through is the least painful way to be able to wear a bra. I am a full C. I too don't wear a bra unless going out. So who in society decided we had to wear bras anyway? We should just be able to wear what makes us comfortable and the world be damned...just sayin'....

Kimbercee, I totally agree about being able to wear what we want! In fact, I read a study that was done recently in France, I think, where doctors claimed that women who WORE bras had more sagging in older age than women who went without. Hmmmmm..... Viva la France!

Look up Sleep Bras. They are somewhat supportive but do not dig in around the sternum area and they have front hook closures.

Order a cup size smaller than you are. Or you won't have the support you are familiar with if you are larger than average.

I live in these things. I do have "going out" bras as well that are torturous on me. Every time sends me into a costocondritis flare. So I try to avoid them if at all possible.

LOL Leo...your "athletic tape" must work so much better than my High School Duct Tape over the bra technique. I used to double bra-it in softball too. Couldn't take a chance at knocking myself out.

This may sound funny but I was a H cup at one time and had a breast reduction then almost 15 years later got cancer and had a mastectomy. They have bras for after your surgery that are like shirt like that zip all the way up and they have room for pads or prosthetics. You can buy them from a pharmacy that fits people for prosthetics. They work great and are very comfortable. They will have room for your breast for sure. They even have fitting specialist just ask. They are more than happy to help. Okay I'm a size 22, andt wear a 42FF to compensate for fibro I hate anything too restrictive. I wear primarks sports bras, they're a racer back and have no metal at all, the racer back put less strain on your side and because its fully elasticated you can pull it right on. You can get similar ones at very with a wire but their about 50 I highly recommend them they may not make you boobs look as good as usual but they are deceptively supportive much better than the ones they are now selling on TV that are all one material. Most of the time, I give up wearing bras. I wear long, tank night gowns, and put a nice kaftan over them. I know, it's a little different look, but some days, I couldn't care less what people think, I just want to be comfy.

Of course, I'm old now, so no one's looking, I figure.
