So from a previous post, you know that I've doubted I had fibro because of lack of pain. I went to the dr. yesterday, a new one, and he agrees with the other drs. so far, although he did not do the tender point test. He is however, doing lab work to check all my vitamins and to see if there is anything else going on. I told him I had horrible fatigue too. Anyway, my question is, does anyone hurt after a blood draw? I never have before but they did take like 6 vials of blood. I hurt so bad today and it always through me off guard. I mean, I do hurt on occasion and since I'm not used to it, I'm always stunned by how much I hurt at times. For me, this is a hard to disease to predict.
Nope--never hurt after a blood draw per se (and I've had 17 vials taken in one day as the docs tried to figure out what's wrong with me). Of course, all of the tension (going to one lab for some vials, to the hospital for the rest; parking in the ramp; walking all the way to the labs) didn't help the pain that was already there.
So two docs say you have fibro, but you have no pain? (Sorry--haven't read other posts.) That doesn't make sense to me, unless you had a lot of pain in the past and may now be in remission or something.
For most of us, it's a terribly hard disease to predict. That makes it so difficult to make plans--who knows how we'll be feeling when the day of the event rolls around? How tired will we be?
Maybe you have the flu, and it's just coincidental that it came on right after your lab work? (Just a thought.)

I was first diagnosed with fibro over 10 years ago and I don't remember why I went to the dr. or the circumstances surrounding it. Then about 5 or so years ago, I told my dr at the time that I doubted I had it because I didn't have any pain. She did the tender point test and that was painful! Then about 4 years ago, I saw a rhuemy and he also did the test. So I suppose I have it but I don't have the pain associated with it, at least not every day. I can go weeks without pain, maybe a joint pain here and there but that's about it. There are times when it does hit me and it's all over. That lasts for a few days and then goes away.
I'm certainly not a doctor but it just seems curious that they would even go there without the pain, which is the hallmark symptom.
I'm sure you've posted about it before, but I don't remember - what are the symptoms that they believe are Fibro other than just doing the tender point test?
In my other post, just a few days ago, I was inquiring about any other conditions that might cause the tender point pain.
Have you had Blood Work done to test for RA ?
Ask to be tested for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Have you had your SED rate done thru blood work? Are you seeing a Rheumatologist?
I have had my blood checked about a year ago last year for RA and it was negative but this dr. is checking again this round. I don't know if I have had my SED done. I may have when I saw a rheumatologist about 4 years ago and I'm not sure if this dr. is checking that now. I think he is basically checking everything to make sure nothing else is going on. And I'm not seeing a rheumatologist now; I just got insurance after 4 years without it and I don't know if my insurance covers it.
