I do notice that some avatars catch my eye quicker than others. I think the ones that get me are the ones thathave pics of their dead babieson there. It kind of freaks me out a bit!!

I tend to go by the DS names members use. Just had to find out what D2 was like with a name like that!!lol!!Then I read some things that they may have written, journals maybe. Grumpymom was the first person I contacted when I joined DS, I just like the name, now I have a lovely friend in to the bargain!! Hugs, Owlxx
I do use my avatars to reflect my mood, I have a gallery of owls to choose from and pick the one that takes my fancy that day.

I don't just people by their avatars. I just think they are an extension of themselves. I like to change mine regularly, usually based upon the holiday. Right now, I'm celebrating Valentine's day. My "non-holiday" avatar is an angel, because of my belief in angels and their importance in my life.

my opinion, the choice of picture or Avatar is kinda refecting on that persons imagination and likes, i enjoy them all and do not get my nose out of joint at any of them, they are fun...

No I don't think so but sometimes depeniing on the avatar it makes me instantly go to thier profile. To see what they are here fo and get to know them.
