You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
I do my best to go for alternative or natural ways to help deal with my fibro. Massage therapy, diet, water, epsom salt baths, rice bags, gentle stretching, stress reduction methods, DS, etc.
I hope you find your relief. Well, as much as possible. Acceptance of what is helped me a lot and keeping on top of natural methods of coping like knowing my limits really helped me.
I do suggest starting low and going slow, half a pill for two weeks then 25 mg then next.
I take 50 mg at bedtime now and i can sleep no matter how much pain i'm in. Its also helped me cut down on my pain killers
I think one of my problems with taking prescription drugs is that I don't give them enough time to work. I'm going to try your advise and try it for a couple of weeks and see what happens. Thanks for your advise.
The therapeutic dosage for depression is normally 50-100 mg. Not many doctors prescribe the old tricyclics for depression anymore because they have such nasty side effects - but the "sleepy" side effect works well for people with fibromyalgia, and for some people it works for pain relief as well.
I am now at 75 mg and I take it at 9 pm every night. I can finally sleep at night now and I am so grateful! Prior to being given this I had been on sleeping pills which didn't work and tossed and turned every night for over two years. I was miserable before but feel a lot better now because I can finally sleep.
Good luck, I hope it helps!
