Good evening-
I went to my rheumy appt. today and told her about all my new complaints of pain which have popped up in the past month thinking they were all due to my fairly newly diagnosed Rheumatoid Arthritis. Much to my surprise, she said the shoulder, arm and neck pain are all from the Fibromyalgia which was diagnosed in August. I have been on 600 mg of Gabapentin, but I don't think it's working at all. I had 6 days in a row of horrible body aches where I had to take Tramadol each night so I could just get some relief. Incidentally, I had a really bad cold - is that known to worsen Fibro symptoms?
I asked doc to change Fibro meds, so she prescribed Lyrica. I haven't started it yet but wonder if people have had some relief from this med? Any bad side effects you've experienced? Thanks for listening.

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...

I have never used Lyrica but I do know that it is known for significant
weight gain. Some people don't have a problem with it and others pack on the pounds. Doctors don't seem to be proactive about this issue. They seem to feel that if the drug works, weight gain is just fine. I'd give it a try and if you notice weight gain is an issue, call or go and see your doctor.
Good luck and take care.
Mind you though, I've not found any drug that's done much to help any of my symptoms and I've had side effects from just about all of them. I know some people have found Lyrica to be helpful, but I've also seen many more comments here from people who tried it but quickly came to realize it was not the right medication for them. It's hard to judge how it will do for you until you try it.
The last rheumy I had prescribed Lyrica, but I am adverse to taking it due to all the side effects and warnings. I have found taking a gram a day of distilled MSM has helped with the inflammation I also experience.
