Only certain classes of prescribed medication work for the type of pain caused by Fibromyalgia. Typically, they are antidepressants. The three primary medications used to treat it are: Cymbalta, Savella and Lyrica.
That being said, there is no single magic formula that will work for every FMS patient. It takes time and a lot of tinkering to find the right medication for each one. Fibromyalgia is a disorder of the central nervous system. OTC medications such as Tylenol, Alleve etc. are usually not effective for the type of pain caused by FMS. It is recognized by the Centers for Disease Control, the National Arthritis Foundation and the World Health Organization.
I'd like to suggest that you purchase the book "Fibromyalgia for Dummies." It will give you an easy to understand comprehensive overview of this complex illness. Knowledge is power. You can find it online at Amazon.

Luck and blessings:-)
