So I called my physician three days ago and now response. When will my doctor give me the diagnosis that I know I already have. I mean a neurologist mentioned it, two other doctors mentioned it. So why is it that my primary physician won't answer my calls and give me a final diagnosis? I've had every test known to man and the came out negative. Don't get me wrong I blessed that they are negative cause it could be worse. Only for my mind set I just want that diagnosis so I can move forward.

I don't know where you live, but in the US, rheumatologists frequently are asked to determine whether someone has fibro or not by doing a bunch of tests for lupus & arthritis and such, and making a determination. Ask for a referral?

I agree with Shakota6. It is my understanding that the neurologist is The Arbiter of all things fibromyalgia.

My sister, who has had it, too for years (I kept telling her - she kept thinking she had cancer), had a PCP who wouldn't give her the diagnosis because he said there was nothing to treat it with, so why get the diagnosis.

Can you imagine? I urged her to get a new doctor if that was his attitude.

Your doctor referred you for tests. They've been completed. If three specialists have said Fibromyalgia, than that unfortunately is probably the answer. Your doctor doesn't sound like they want to step on the specialists toes.

If you want clarification, pick one specialist, get copies of the tests from the other two specialists. Then make an appointment to discuss the results with the one that you picked and get a treatment plan started.

Unfortunately, the days of doctors calling anyone back in a timely manner are gone. They are swamped thanks to an inept healthcare system. And, like it or not, calls have to triaged so the most urgent ones are handled first.

You have to be your own best advocate when managing and seeking treatment for this illness. Take care.
