Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.

Cause? Not that I know of.
Can alcoholism ruin your health? Absolutely.
Child of alcoholic, with many an addict int he family tree. You won't get fibro or chornic fatigue from booze---but from cirrhosis, fatty liver, cardiomyopathy, alcoholic encephalopathy, pancreatic dysfunction, bleeding ulcers.... Should I go on?
As a direct cause? No, a few drinks here an dhtere won't give you CFS or FM.
But Alcoholism and drug addiction will however completely toast your innards, so.... there's that.
Note: My mom hasn't had a drink since 1987, was dx'd in 2013.
I'll amend Daisy'c omment by saying addiction issues often stem from traumatic events, as well as causing physical trauma.
There's an article here on the site somewhere that talks about it, and there have been a number of posts asking whether people are hurt or helped - not by a lot of alcohol, but again, by a glass of wine, a couple of beers, a cocktail. The response is usually about even on both sides.
I've got more than my share of experience with alcoholism as well, and I agree with most everything Leo said. It's not a trauma, its a disease, but a lot of people first go down the rabbit hole after a trauma.
I have realized that I had fybro for many years before I got a diagnosis. I am not sure what caused it. However, I have had pain since my late teens.
I think what is hard about fybro is that is manifests in so many different ways and that there is not standard treatment that works for everyone.
