The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
Fibro awareness is growing in the medical community, it would be good to have a show bring it main stream so people understand this is a true and horrendous illness that mimics severe illnesses like MS and that there is currently no cure for fibro.
He likes to open up the body and show the cause. There is no reason that I can think of that he would do a segment on FM because there is no cause.
When Oprah talked about FM it was a complete disaster and did us more harm than good because the woman with FM completely forgot her words and got a bad case of fog when asked to describe what she went through. It just confirmed what everyone already believes - that it is some sort of mental illness.
Spoken like a woman who has never had a pain in her life that somebody didn't rush to make go away. And...he didn't correct her at all...just kept on talking about the dangers of addiction and all the crap that gets ratings and reinforces the myths.
When was Fibro discussed on Oprah? I missed that...
I saw the Oz show when he had Dr. Jacob Tietlebaum as a guest. He is the author of From Fatigue to Fantastic, and founder of the Fibromyalgia and Fatigue centers. It was a disgrace. Oz didn't hardly let him speak, the segment was very short, and basically all was dismissed due to lack of sleep, eating properly etc... Was a real bummer.
I will say this. Healthy diet, exercise and sleeping do HELP your body COPE with illness. And that's great. But it's not the ONLY way to achieve health. Sometimes you need more. Like a way to break the cycle of pain in your body, for starters.
