Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
How about an independent documentary, picturing daily life with FM or other invisible disease. Show the difficulties from a personal point of view, interview doctors, naturopaths, scientists....
Maybe we should try to do a documentary. I have a degree in radio-tv-film. I'm a little rusty, but it may be worth a try. I also have a JD so I have access to a lot of lawyers who may be able to lend a hand. My best friend is an MD ( a pediatrician) but she may know people as well. Just a thought...
I have always said I would like to put many people that are in my llife not just Drs and take them and say here you go live in my shoes for a week and then tell me what you think about fibro. as you can see this is a subject that really gets me ticked off at people.
THANK GOD WE HAVE EACH OTHER HERE ON DS :)
he thinks sleeping enough and eating right will rid you of fibro
he thinks the MS hug can kill you (it cant it just feels like it)
and so on
he's got his heart attack stuff down and diebetes. but besides that he just reinforces that fibro is in our heads
I have also read that people with chronic illnesses are often the 'healthiest' people around BECAUSE the eat well, rest and exercise. It doesn't mean that the illness is gone, only that the patient is doing all they can to live the best life they can.
As for me, at this point, I don't care much about who thinks it is real or not. I am glad that it is officially a 'disease' or 'condition' and the friends I have left know that I am ill and what it does to me. As for the rest of them, forget it. I have shed many friends over the years who find it too annoying to deal with me and I say, 'Good riddance.' I dont' have time for them anyway. The friends who stuck with me were probably the only real friends I ever had anyway.
Many years ago, I saw a show on TV, can't remember what, but it was one of the news-magazine types of shows. It focused on a woman who was so ill that she was unable to wear clothes. She lived in her bed with only a sheet to cover her. I have had certain kinds of fabrics be a problem, but thank God have never had that issue with all clothing. What a horror that would be. This woman was presented in the show with a very sympathetic attitude, which added to the authenticity of the show for me.
Lastly, there is a documentary, 'Living with Fibromyalgia', which you can download for $9.95 here:

There are also pieces of it on You Tube.
