I had posted in this group before. I need help with my husband. Absolutely no where to turn so I came here.
I need help. My son NEEDS help. We need my husband, his father, to get help. I don't know what to do. He has such horrible fits of rage and constant aggression. No patience with our young son. I don't know what to do. When we married it was a mutual decision for me to quit my job so our future kids would not have to be raised by daycare. I have no money, but all the credit cards are in my name so I can't even just kick him out.
I can't tell you how many things he has broken since we have been together, how many times he has emotionally hurt us, how many times I have thought about just calling the police to put his ass in jail.
I don't know what to do at all. I've begged for him to go to counseling, or marriage counseling, or even family counseling. Our son acts out because he knows no better but his father goes ballistic when ds does. He won't give ds any attention and that is all he wants. It's gut-wrenching sickening to me that he acts like this.
Please what do I do to get him some sort of mandated counseling? (&& no, threatening to leave unless he does would be completely backwards because he wants out when things get tough)

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...
There are no magic words or counseling, that will end your husbands rage.
In fact, the experience of hundreds of thousands of abused spouses predicts that he'll get much, much worse.
What your husband NEEDS is to live ALONE and get at least a year, but probably two or three years worth of counseling. That's what HE needs.
What your son needs, is a safe place to sleep.
If you won't take him and leave, then please call child protective services so that they can take him and get him out.
Go to a women's shelter and find out what you must do.
And if you can't do it fast enough, next time DO call the police and get his @$$ in jail.
Letting your children be around that type of person is going to be damaging to them.
You cannot force him to go to counseling. If he is breaking the law you can press charges, or if you are in immediate danger you can call the police.
Or, you could leave. But really you can never force anyone into counseling. And if you did, it wouldn't be effective anyway. Anyone can sit in a chair for an hour, that's not forcing them to be helped.
This will have a massive impact on your sons' life and I agree with Patti that if you won't leave I would let Child Protective Services do what they can to protect your child and give him a safe place to be
I read a book called 'inside the minds of angry and controlling men' by Lundy Bancroft. The book has been my bible and lifesaver. He writes other books too about when to stay and when to leave an abusive relationship. The books may help you understand why he's like this.
I would also recommend getting DV counselling and documenting every instance of his abuse in a recording (if it's legal where you live) and journals. These will be helpful if you are ever trying to get custody. Your counsellor may also recommend a good joint counsellor that works with abusive men. I don't know where you live, but you can get DV counselling free of charge through charities in Australia.
In the meantime.... Cancelling and paying off the credit cards might be a good idea. I wanted to stay home with my kids too, but working and putting them in daycare will enable you to create a plan b should you need to leave.
Good luck and take care!
