Family Issues Support Group
Family issues is a huge range that go from minor conflict to major misbehaviour and even abuse on the part of individual members of the family occur. Whether you feel you are in a dysfunctional family or you're dealing with a very specific issue, this is the place to talk about it and find others who might be going through the same thing.
So I'm not sure where to start I'm 24 and have a 4 year old daughter and have been with her father for 8 years almost 9 it's been a complete roller coaster of ups and downs and I've been through it all with him. I have been physically abused for years and mentally and emotional abused along with it and as I got older the financial abuse came with it. I grew up as a child watching my mom be abused but it's hard to explain why I now understand from my fathers point of view why it happened and as a victim of domestic violence I'm not saying at all that it is okay or excused I simply can understand but after so many years of pretty bad physical abuse the emotional pain became worse then any physical pain it's still something I'm struggling with to this day. I'm at a point in my life where I'm lost and I don't have anyone family or friends I can trust to turn to and I can't afford a therapist either so I'm hoping I can find some comfort or support I guess through something or anything that might help me online. I don't want to write a book even though I could but I can say my biggest thing is that my afraid and scare that my daughter will be effect in the same way that I was as a child and coming from a low class family and a mother who was and still is a drug addict and father who even though he worked 12 hours a day to provide for us is still a functioning alcoholic it's hard to now have the strength in emotional ways that I see my childhood is effecting me and my addiction I guess you can say to such a toxic relationship. I have put up and still do with so much from my daughters father but yet I still yearn for his little bit of what I think is love or affection to make me feel normal. Like I said I truly could write a book from 8 years with him and growing up as a child dealing with the same thing even though I was just a young teen when I got with him. If someone does read this I'm only asking for maybe guidance or a mutual understand or as hard as it is to say help so I can be strong for my baby girl and mental be the mother she needs.

Which explains the mysterious fevers and my extra fatigue. I'm so glad I pushed for answers.

Shelters for abused women are really great Shannon..... I volunteered at one for a while.... They are so supportive.... They are great with the children..... They help to get people to the next step safely.... They are also very private..... Their location is never disclosed ..... I would call hotlines for abused women.... You deserve to much more and so does your little girl...... DS is a great site...... Gentle hug.....xo

I'm so sorry you find yourself in this desperate situation and I really feel for you and your daughter. The most important thing you must do is to leave this man as soon as possible as he will not only ruin your life but damage your daughter and leave her will mental health problems. Like you I had an abusive and violent alcoholic father who beat myself and my sisters almost nightly. I never formed loving relationships just abusive ones where I felt I was never good enough and they never lasted. After my marriage broke up I moved in with a guy with a personality problem. He was mentally abusive I believe he was a narcissistic man. Please google this condition to see if your partner is also narcissi. These people are manipulative bullys who think they are more powerful than you and you are never good enough for them. They fly into rages if you dare say no or disagree with them. They try to alianate you from all your family and friends and they never change. They blame you for everything. But the very worst thing is what they do to the children who will end up just like them so you must leave him. I walked out of my relationship but left it too late. He stalked me for years and I was too soft and too stupid to cut him out of my life. I bought my daughter up on my own for 16 years and loved her, gave her a really good life she even had a pony and went to university. But the damage has been done because he remained in our lives. My daughter was an easy child but quite a difficult teenager to set boundaries with as she would disappear for a few days when she was at collage. Then she met her future husband at university and for the past 10 years she has had no respect for me and is abusive. I have tried to avoid any conflict with her for the sake of my 2 grandchildren. I was worried she would cut me out of her life. She treats the children very harshly and this causes me so much pain. I told her not to shout at me in front of the children and stood up to her for the first time 5 weeks ago. Now she refuses to have anything to do with me and I worry I will never see my grandchildren again. She has cut her father out of her life along with all of my family. We are not good enough for her. I blame her behaviour on the narcissistic man I lived with for 4 years when she was aged 2 -6 yrs. I have done the research and I know this is learned behaviour. So please leave this sadistic bully before he ruins your life and destroys your beautiful daughter. I know it's not easy but you must find a way. It's too late for me but you are still so young please do this now. Please get the help and support you need through your doctor, the school, community advice, the police, friends family etc. I don't know where you live but there's a lot of help out there so please ask for help. There is a happier life waiting for you. Good luck.
