I struggle with hallucinations and a lot of crap that makes it 10billion times harder to work. I keep getting fired bc of it. I decided to try to go to nurology to seek help or SOMETHING for my episodes but for the past 3 to 4 years my mother has been making excuses of why i cant be on her insurance and or how she missed the deadline to join me on it. its 2k dollars to walk into the door for these appointments and im gonna be 24 in august....I cant communicate these fears and stuggles bc its the same results everytime..."youre just like dad" "youre being lazy" "youre a liar. it cant be that bad" and it is that bad!! I havent been having them lately bc i havent been hired in 2 years(ive been applying but nobody wants to hire me) so today im stable. the most stable ive ever been tbh....im scared and idk what to do. i have to wear a mask around my family and pretend im happy. Im stressed 24/7 and i have to bottle it up or else they explode at me or tell me im being like dad. im afraid im crazy and maybe i am.

It's been some time since my last post...sorry. I've been going through a challenging time with the sale of my home, purchase of a condo and my adult asperger son that lives with me. I've had days where I couldn't get out of bed, days where I stayed in my pj's and days where all I managed to do was eat, drink fluids and take care of my Sweet Mia kitty. Sweet Mia came to me from a shelter about...

If I come to DS and it won't do anything when I click "Login", I go to a post, click and then click "Leave a Reply". Then it will let me log in.Of course, sometimes DS just goes to "Error 504". Then I can't log in.

I've no idea about yours and Mom's relationship, as a single parent by choice to a son, who today is 27, and has aspergers a form of autism I can tell you honestly, I'm ashamed of myself and many years ago asked for my son to forgive me for how Horrible I was to him....I Love Him, :::my""" problem was I was So Frustrated with the system, schools, fighting all the time for services and I was just Tired!
If you want to, write the state you live in and I'll do what I can to help find help for you...Only The State.
In the mean time, tomorrow get an apt. with the Social Security Dept and see if you can get on Social Security Disability. You can work a certain number of hours and still get financial help, that also comes with medical coverage.
If you are having hallucinations, you need to see a psychiatrist, not neurologist. I have a friend here on ds and I'm going to send him your post as he has similar issues...he;s in his 50's and a Wonderful Guy!!!
Take Good Care of yourself...my heart goes out to you!!! Feel free to message me any time!!!
Your parents have taken you off their medical insurance but if you are in the USA, you can get your own medical insurance. Even with no income. And with no income, you likely won't pay anything with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) insurance or "The Marketplace". Or your county has help for low income, no income people.
I am wondering if you have even had a good psychiatric evaluation as a starting place? I don't know where you live but is there any county or state run health care of mental health care? This is where people who do not have health insurance often start. Unless you feel this is entirely something neurological like seizures would be (not mental health in other words).
So first -- yes of course one needs medical proof to get approved for either SSDI or SSI which is the low income "welfare" program for people with disabilities or elderly. SSDI is the program people earn from working if they end up with an illness, disability, etc. SSDI has rules for how many quarters someone has to have worked, etc. but it sounds like you know this if you went for SSI first. If you have medical proof, I am going to suggest you contact an attorney group who does "social security disability" work. The federal law sets out who can do this and the limits they can charge the client (you). But those companies know how to collect the medical information and get it filed properly and then how to appeal the first denial, etc. They sometimes are willing to help people get medical proof by sending clients to doctors they work with but it all depends on what is wrong with the client.
I think you need to get the medical records and that might be first finding the county or state mental health department or health department if you are convinced this is neurological not psychiatric.
I don't like to say "crazy" because this stuff is a brain health disorder. People get cancer and aren't called some bad name. Well our brains sometimes need help. Maybe this is why you want to go to a neurologist first?
Remember this is a brain health disorder and there is no shame for getting proper medical help for hallucinations.
It does not sound like your mother or family are helpful to you. It sounds like they keep you down and that is not good. We can love difficult people but not allow them to keep us down. You might try googling "free mental health help in name of your county and state" and see if you find something. If you live in a largely populated city, there are likely what is called behavioral health hospitals and they do take uninsured people (in-patient stay). You might get a bill but most non-profit hospitals have a system to forgive the hospital bill for low income folks, you just have to give them your income tax paperwork, pay stubs, etc.
I don't want to make it sound like help is easy to find or not backed up in the county departments or health care systems. In the larger cities, and I could be wrong but I think anyone walking into the county hospital ERs or the non-profit hospital systems like Baylor in Dallas, and saying "I am having seizures and hallucinations" would be examined and could get free care by showing one has no income after you get the bill and follow the hospital's instructions for when people can't pay.
I don't know enough to say this is seizures or what. I think you need medical assessment and I am not sure a licensed clinical therapist is qualified to do that. If you are in a rural area, I don't know but I am concerned for. you. Much information like this is found online. You need to get "in the system" somehow. If you need more help, you can send me an email on here with your zip code and I'll see what I can find.
