Concerned for my brother as he seems to be on a slippery slope to corruption and exploitation of those around him.
The world of work can be a corrupting one and many loose their way. Individuals become consumed by ladder climbing in the work environment and loose their moral & ethical integrity in the pursuit of power, influence and job security. Or to keep from loosing their own jobs.
Essentially my brother now seems to be in a position were he aggressively threatens people around to work longer, harder, faster. If people take any form of break it is met with verbal abuse and hostility. If people are not working 12-16 hr days this is also met with abuse and aggressive behaviour.
I my self fallen on hard times having lost my job. I have noticed this change in my brother ever since he has climbed the ladder in his work place. He is even this way toward me. Treating me like an employee expecting me to work 7 days a week 16 hr days working on his house. and any form of break taken is met with hostility abuse and aggression.
He seems to try and give the impression that this is normal working hard.
Clearly it is not. There is a big difference.
I have spoken to other people about it too. And they agree that my brother should know better. Additionally to treat a bother, sister, daughter or son as an employee and take advantage when they have fallen on hard times is both immoral & unethical.
I really don't know what else to add.....

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

That it is okay to put ones self before moral and ethical integrity?
Because if that's the case I have to disagree whole heartedly.
No I no longer own a flat as I lost my job and had to move out and in with my brother temporarily.
Can you try to stay away from him? Like, can you move to a different house that is safer? It's not healthy to be around that anyway, and if he doesn't want to change or anything he is not going to.
I don't know what you mean about moral and ethical integrity. Do you know what that means? Because you seem to be either using that in the wrong context or have a misunderstanding of it.
And yes.
When someone takes advantage of another person. Or when someone puts them self & agenda first above doing what is right.
Unethical: Meaning::
immoral, amoral, unprincipled, unscrupulous, dishonourable, wrong, dishonest, deceitful, disreputable, unconscionable, fraudulent, dirty, unfair, underhand, devious, slippery, bad, wicked, evil, sinful, iniquitous, corrupt, depraved, villainous; More
I just grabbed and pasted it. Example.
I'm not saying that this is your brother however he's a power monger and hurts people as a daily event... Not cool at all
If I were you EM I would get away from him ASAP and have very firm boundaries where he is concerned
Big hug for you and a blessing....xo
My boss and I had a discussion on this very thing. How he used to be, (much like your brother), and how he is now, the opposite of your brother.
What happens is the job demands that are placed on people, can become the norm for them. So much, that it can consume them to the point they see their changes are only for the good and that everyone else would be the same as them if they were "hard workers".
The saying that negativity breeds negativity; positivity breeds positivity also lends itself in this case. The job your brother took on has the characteristics your brother is displaying. Until he realizes that his mannerisms he "needs" at his job, are not really Ok in his personal life, he won't see how he is treating people is not Ok.
You can try to sit down and have a talk with him. Let him know you have seen a change in him. That maybe leaving his work persona at work and to chill out a little bit while he is with you or his family. You will probably be met with a haste of defense and I wouldn't expect a change unless he can really see outside his own nose. But someone needs to tell him his behavior is changing and not Ok. If only that you end up feeling better cus you got to get that off your chest.
In the end, you can only try to help him see his behavior and the effects it is having on others, especially you. He will see it when he is ready to see it. Hopefully he will see it sooner then most, before he is old and / or on his death bed.
