Family issues is a huge range that go from minor conflict to major misbehaviour and even abuse on the part of individual members of the family occur. Whether you feel you are in a dysfunctional family or you're dealing with a very specific issue, this is the place to talk about it and find others who might be going through the same thing.
Addiction, racism and immature family members. . .
I am biracial and grew up with a white mom and a black dad. Who are racist against eachothers race. He hit her a lot, she was weak for him and his family hates white people and her family hates black people. I am sure you could imagine how comfortable I was at family gatherings....anyways I am 27 now soon to be 28 and the violence, the addictions that both sides of the family have always had and the immature energy has torn my family a part before it could even begin to be labled as a family. I moved away with my daughter so she doesnt know my family really and hasnt been around the violence, chaos, and abuse that I have. I live a pretty good life now but it took me a looooong time to get to this point of stability. I have never been racist and knew it was wrong and didnt feel good growing up but I am both races and I have nobody on either side and havent for a while. I even left facebook for years because I was tired of seeing the ignorance, deaths and downfalls of everyone I ever knew. I created a whole new life for my daughter and now I am just trying to create a support system with a safe place to vent, communicate and help others if I can. I wish someone knew how this weird dynamic feels and how lonely I have always felt being wedged in the middle like the common denominator I have always been.

Which explains the mysterious fevers and my extra fatigue. I'm so glad I pushed for answers.

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.

For some of the things that you've been facing a group like al anon or nar anon might help and they're all over the place and free
Good for you finding a way to put boundaries up and stopping the dysfunction from carrying on
We are still in the early days of getting comfortable mixing races so sadly that's hard the children still.... I'm sorry that you've been through so much chaos....
Hopefully in 40 or 50 more years it will be that much more comfortable....
Early days of cultural changes can often be rough unfortunately
My nephew is white and his wife is black..... They have 2 beautiful children and we've talked about the small minds that still exist today and she worries about them meeting other children who look like them ….. She worries about cruelty in the world
However their family/our family is loving and I hope that you and your daughter can find that moving forward...
Big hug

Thank you for the information and support! I will definitely look into all of those resources. I am happy you are able to offer your nephews family the love and support and understanding they need. Cruelty in the world is such a monster and though we've been able to knock it down and make it smaller it definitely exists. Big hug to you as well! :)
First of all, I am so very sorry you have had to deal with so much hatred and ignorance. It sounds like you are doing every thing you can to create a good life for you and your daughter. It truly breaks my heart that there are people in this world who cannot see past a person's skin color. I pray that in the coming years we are able to put such things behind us and love each other as we are all part of the human race. Big hugs to you, you are doing awesome!
