You get support from other estranged parents. There are lots of good books, some books not so helpful. My suggestion is to spend the first year working on your own healing. Don't focus on creating a reconciliation, don't write the amends letter, wait and work on seeing your situation differently and starting to heal. Yes, we can. I sent you a friend request and if you want to send me an email, I can give you the names of free support groups that might be helpful. I gave you the names of a few books on the family estrangement page. I also like the blog posts on rejected parents dot net.

From what you wrote in the other forum, your ED may be abusive. This is very different from just an adult son or daughter getting mad at mom or dad because we talk too much or voted X when they voted Y. Estrangement, or the silent treatment, can be abusive control tactics.

You matter. Our lives can be good even with a high conflict person that we love. Hugs, and more hugs.
