Welcome to the group.
For my son, the main worries are a job and a place to live. For a job, I don't have high hopes of him getting hired elsewhere so starting a business seems our only option. We discussed his top skills so will start a business around those. It'll be a lot of work (especially in this market) but we are prepared to do whatever.
And I want to welcome you to the group.
place, and eventually got hired at a restaurant. It is doable
I cannot believe the advice you just gave this young man. Here he just was released from prison less than six months ago, has a wife and a family, and you are suggesting that he IGNORE a law that might well get him in trouble or sent back to prison.
Is this the kind of support this group is about? Giving people the kind of advice that might put them back into custody. I understand that the law may well be a civil rights issue, but it will not help this guy if he follows your advice and gets in hot water again-----and he has a family also. They would suffer.
OneofThem, you don’t IGNORE all the laws. If you did, you would not be posting on this board. So why do you tell others to ignore the laws?
This guy has a new wife and five kids for Pete’s sake. Why make suggestions like that to a man who is just now enjoying his freedom after years in prison?
Your politics and opinions are fine. I am all for free speech, but to suggest an action that might harm a poster is over the line.
If you want to ignore laws because you feel as if they are a civil rights issue, why don’t you just refuse to register next time? You can always claim a civil rights case.
Please don’t turn this support forum into the laughingstock of the internet by advocating breaking laws.

Oneofthem, keep on 'em. "The right to assemble cannot be denied." This is what the gov wants, to strip everyone of the right and ability to fight against oppression.
Remember people: What they don't know can't hurt you. Policing yourself is the worst way to live.
There are several homes for sale in our neighborhood that are not listed with the well known real estate companies. The yards are overgrown and need some TLC to keep curb appeal. We already have a riding mower , so we made up some flyers , I will apply for an LLC in my name , he will be my employee. Then we will make some calls to these small agencies. If it works out , we plan to keep it small. Just local stuff , for agencies , no residential. It might not pull in huge profits , but there is potential for it to offer other services.
Sadigh is right - What they don't know , can't hurt you.
That is fabulous! It's my dream to have a quiet place in the country that's self-sufficient. But, wrong country (for me) and wrong dream (for him). I'll push gardening and canning but full on farming is just not his thing. Pity. Sending envy your way :-)
My man has been offered a job when he gets out to work at and eventually run a company that will obtain and supply snake venom for antivenom products. It sounded good to him and the offer included a really good salary. I did some research and found that in order for snake venom to be accepted by any sort of medical lab or antivenom supplier, there are strict conditions established by the World Health Organization for keeping the snakes and obtaining/packaging/selling the product. Some suppliers have gone out of business because they couldn't meet those standards and because it takes so many snakes to get just a little bit of viable product. And can you imagine what the insurance rates would be like (health insurance, business insurance, etc.)?
Peek, so happy to see that your husband can get out and you two can live away from all the crazies. That is the key to residency---get far enough away that nobody bothers you. Also, living in a rural area insulates a person against any city ordinances that might be sex offender related.
justmom22, your experience reminds me so much of one of my friend's experience who was released six months after I was. He could not find work, so he bought a riding mower and started mowing lawns. He was so successful that he branched out into clearing brush, weed eating, and now he is building fences and doing minor repairs. Success begets success.
Excellent comments from everyone.
This is what this forum is all about---we each come on here to EXCHANGE IDEAS and learn from one another. A great way to support each other!!
