Ca has 4 tiers. A level 4 is most violent. Level 3 is medium and I believe 1&2 are low. Currently he is one point away from a level 3. When he was evaluated, they said after he was there 6 months he could be evaluated to be classified as a level 3. Which he only had one month left to be reclassified. In his letter today, he said that he can request to be reclassified right now - not sure if true.

But yes, any info on how long he has until he is reclassified as a level 2 would be great. He was sentenced to 30 yrs 8 months and has to serve 85% of that.

Thank you SuchAs. I'm shocked there isn't good time credit- otherwise, what's the insentive of behaving if you can't get out sooner. Stupid legislators. I think they should all be required to live our lives for one month to find out how they negatively impact us all.

What they do hear is a top and bottom so for my man his bottom amount he has to do is 4 years if he did the top amount he would have to do 6 years.....so if it gets out on his earliest release date (ERD) he will have still 2 years of parole to do then after that yearly regestion. There's not much insentive for them to behave my man is coz he just wants come home and look after me and help pay off the house.......sigh just a year and a few months to go I hope.
It would be nice if they lived our lives for a bit but I don't think they could handle it.

I was able to get a visit today and found out that he wasn't placed in the hole. However, he will meet with the councilor to be reevaluated and possibly moved to Gen Pop since he isn't a problem child.

His cell mate (ex gang banger) moved with him from reception and knows his charges. The guy gave him some advice to stay safe as well as a story to share with others when asked about his charges. So, we shall see how this goes.

I agree wholeheartedly that making up a story about his charges---and sticking with it----is the best course of action here. A person can go into a minimum security prison and reveal that he has been convicted of a sex crime, but that will not work at a medium security facility. Anyone who goes into a medium prison and starts popping off about this true charges is just looking to get hurt. So it pays to have a story made up and rehearsed----and stick with it no matter what.

Once he is seen as an "OK guy", if they find out about his charges, it will not matter.

Inmates do not beat up other inmates they like.

Another thing he should do is destroy all his paperwork, court documents, etc. Sometimes when a guy enters a medium, the other inmates will want to see the paperwork to see the nature of the charges. It is best to just get rid of the paperwork to stop that problem.

He also needs to make up a story that is somewhat compatible with his appearance and his crime. For example, he is probably pretty normal looking, with no tattoos, so he cannot say his charges are bank robbery or drug dealing. Inmates are too smart for that. But he can say he is in there for second degree murder in a domestic dispute, because even clean cut guys shoot their wives in a moment of passion. That is the story I would come up with, of course, the cell mate might have something better. But the domestic shooting IS compatible with his sentence and his appearance.
