Yes Advocate, I have seen the FB page, actually I have seen more than one. It hardly looks like a page he would do, as it shows him crying and crops his face on cartoons and stuff. Is that the page you saw? See why me posting a few Links here, without even mentioning his name, is the least of my worries? We have tried to report it, and a couple of the YouTube videos... nothing seems to happen.

Maybe since he was shown on TV they consider him a public figure? The group that organized the sting even posted his chat log online years ago back in 2008, and it's still up! If you look at their website they post ALL the chat logs of guys they talk to. All those chats are terrible to see. You can totally see how they convince and manipulate guys to come meet the teen, total entrapment.

I am not sure if the link is misuse but I know you cannot alter the registry info. That is illegal - but being on TV and such does not make him a public figure - if that were true then all RSOs would be public figures since they are on the internet! If that is what they want then so be it - then all RSOs can create FB pages and say they are public figures!

What do you mean alter the registry info? Are they doing more than making fun of him now? Are they altering the registry or something?

Don't you think your uncle and your whole family should stay off that face book site? I know this sounds a little paranoid but since he is not supposed to have access and it's in his name this might turn into an attempted sting? Or even an attempt to make another news story? Maybe his lawyer should send a few starchy letters to Face Book admin etc. simply for the purpose of having proof (insurance for later if necessary) that the site isn't his and he not only has nothing to do with it but has "heard" about it the existence of the site and objects to it defaming his character by calling him a "public figure" and trying to incite a reaction.! This whole situations is a "gotcha" trying to get your uncle to flare up and do something they can point to maybe even write a news story about. .
I know this sounds pretty old fashioned, but in this situation your Uncle is certainly showing himself to be the Better Man. Just continue to behave with dignity.

Janet - depending on what state he is in being on FB is not against the rules (I think some states still have it) - in most cases judges have found in favor of the RSOs as far as social media is concerned. FB however is another story - they do have a rule against RSOs and they will delete the page if they find it. But this is not a page he created - someone else created it to simply mock and bully him - in FL RSOs are not stopped from having a page but FB will delete them

ADVOCATE2 : Thanks for the clarification/ reminder. The Adam Walsh Act is "one Size fits all" however every state (except the 17 states in full compliance with AWA) apply the rules unevenly and I just forget. Were I live (one of the 17) they still confiscate laptops saying the "offender" has access just as all the vehicles have to be registered with LE even if they are not in his name because he has "access"

Yeah in FL they have to register all vehicles register to their address - even if not theirs. They only confiscate computers when arrested or if they break rules on probation after they get permission to be on computer - once off probation they do not restrict computer use

Anyone who is publishing false information on the web or anywhere is open for a lawsuit for defamation of character. The registry IS public information but twisting the truth of it is against the law.

Do not post any websites URL's pointing to any website that is promoting such slander in this public board. I WILL DELETE THEM!

This is a support site not a listing of sites not supportive of our cause. We have enough to worry about with out looking at sites that will only bring us down.
