my po says i can petition to get off of 20yrs supervise release in 2 years

I found it about a year ago when I was looking into seeing if it was considered a no-go zone for vacations. I can't seem to find where I read that information.

I've looked into it and didn't find anything. My husband is off paper tho

Pardon my ignorance, not used to the terminology, but what does "off paper" mean in this arena? I've seen that term used here and there.

"Paper time" is a sentence or period of time served while on probation, parole, or some form of supervised release, in other words a sentence served outside prison.

Probation and parole are "paper time" as is any sentence not served within the confines of a jail or prison.

Huh, strange. I'm confused as to why I can't find any information on it either. I remember reading several things about anyone who is registered not being able to go into national parks.

Maybe I can email the National Park Service and find out.

I like to travel and see different parts of the country, and meet people along the way. I hope to do that again some day, but right now circumstances and finances don't allow much in the way of perambulating.

I used to travel quite a bit. I've been all over the country. My fiance hasn't travelled much out of state, or in state for that matter. Our last trip was really fun for him.

Its hard for me to stay in one place. We are hoping to get a couple weekends away this year. Finances are a big factor for us as well.

Not sure about this but I think the National/State Park thing is more a state preclusion?

That's what I was thinking Advocate. I was told the feds don't have anything specific. We had to ask because of a trip to DC and my hubby was allowed to go while on probation

Being banned from parks is usually a state thing and ONLY while the person is on supervision. After that it is fair game. The reason why they are banned from there while on paper is because of the "park" part of it. Parks are where children gather you see... so all those SOs better stay away! LOL

National parks are not off limits to anyone.

In Florida most counties have the off paper thing covered by creating ordinances that cover all RSOs from going to parks etc. In my county it includes trails! They call them linear parks - however I would think if they tried to ban RSOs from National Parks they are asking for trouble. National Parks are paid for by Federal taxes and anyone - including RSOs - that pay taxes have every right to go there
