Nope no restrictions on any child except his own. Legally he could take our nieces and nephews for a day away, even a UK holiday, unsupervised but he must have supervised contact with his own children. Its just bizarre.

Its the same in Australia no support for people like us its crazy......our laws are pretty much the same as what your laws are and yes if we want to go away for a weekend we have to tell the place we are staying at.

I'm from the UK. I've been trying to join this website for so long but couldn't join using my mobile phone. Even though I have only been able to read the threads on here, I felt comforted by the words of other people in similar situations to myself, as I have nobody to talk to who can relate to me in the slightest. I don't feel like I can be 100% honest about my feelings with the people around me for fear of being persecuted. Being the partner/family member of a sex offender is one of the most isolating things I have ever come across.

I understand how your feel and have moved away from where we lived for many years as I could not bear meeting people who either did or did not know a out my son . Now isolated in a place I don't know anyone it is still difficult when I meet people as I am in my 60's when they automatically ask 'do you have a family, children etc'
I hate lying so it is easier not to get involved with anyone at all which is not easy being on my own .also I appreciate being wary of giving out addresses in our delicate situations but what about a secure telephone line maybe one that could be recommended by either Lucy Faithful org. Or even the police? I know how much this could have meant to me at the beginning of this nightmare and would be prepared to help others with support.

Lucy Faithful never responded to my email (I asked if they could recommend any avenues of support), which I think speaks volumes about their resources. I know when my husband did their course, he was told that they receive very little funding for their work with sex offenders, which I think is ridiculously short sighted. But I guess support for families of offenders is even slimmer on the ground.

I guess its a very difficult topic for most people to have an open mind to in order for support to become available as the british media have a field day with sex offence cases and love to scaremonger and create witch hunts rather than solutions and help to deal with the problem.

Oh yes. The local press have really gone to town with my husband, 2 articles in 3 weeks, most of which was sensationalised lies. The truth was in there somewhere, but twisted & thoroughly hyped up. Such a help :/

Not to mention said articles being spread like wildfire across social media... Been there too.
