You said, " Does the word hypocrisy ring a bell? Or.....how about the pot calling the kettle black?"
There is a huge difference between a man who uses the power of his badge to go on a rampage to rape women---even to go so far as rape one while she is handcuffed to the bed and another one on her mother's porch-----and people who have downloaded some CP pictures, which seems to be the situation with most people on the board. So I don't really think the "pot calling the kettle black" is a good comparison here.
Personally, I do feel sorry that a nice looking young man would throw it all away by committing these crimes, and I don't understand his actions.
If his mother or family came to the board, I would hope that they receive the same support that anyone else does. After all, they did not commit the crime and were only collateral consequences.
You said, " Are you kidding me? Is this all about the system? Is this more important? Are you all above the law because you are not the law?"
Westy, you have to understand that many people here have received a terrible deal from the system. Some were completely innocent and some of the mothers here have sons who are serving most of their life in prison for doing much less than this policeman did.
Is it right to feel the way some people do toward a LE? Probably not, but all of the broken people on this board are human and, given what some of these people on the board have been through, you cannot expect much empathy for a policeman who is a serial rapist. His family, yes, but him, no.

Or.....we can have compassion."
In God's word it mentions:
2 Peter 3:8-10New King James Version (NKJV)
"8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us,[a] not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance."
Proverbs 24:17-18 "17 Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles; 18 Lest the Lord see it, and it displease Him, And He turn away His wrath from him."
When American forces tried to capture Osama Bin Ladin (I have to believe that they tried) as an alleged mastermind of 9/11 (this is not a forum for whatever conspiracy theory you have... you take that conversation elsewhere) he was inadvertently killed because he had a weapon on him. When I had seen the news reports of the confirmation that he had been killed and Americans were cheering his death, because I know God's word on this subject, I just literally sat in silence. Wishing others knew what I knew.
I said that all to say this because of @westdenalie's comments; Yes even this former cop needs compassion and rehabilitation regardless if he gets out or not, because it's the right thing to do.
Do I agree with the fact that he should be behind bars? Yes. He has changed lives forever in a negative and terribly brutal way and needs to be held accountable for those crimes and serve out whatever sentence is handed down.
Am I going to do a dance in my living room? No.
I believe it's been said correctly the cop was sobbing because of the fact that he got caught. Whether people believe this or not, that former cop is still on God's heart in the fact that He doesn't want him to perish in hell regardless if he gets out or never does.
That is God's heart on this.
This same reasoning is used when prosecuting teachers and anyone that works with children. They say what they did is just SOOOO much worse because they are in a position of power over the other individual. But because it is a child that the power is over, it is different. When you really examine the emotional response of how a child interprets a teacher and the emotional response that an adult has when dealing with law enforcement. The responses are the same, fear, anxiety, thoughts of "will I get in trouble if I refuse", "will people believe me over this person in power?" All these come in to play regardless if this is teacher on student or police officer on some driver. It all boils down to "person in position of power" over "person in position of powerlessness"
I can't say I don't like seeing someone from law enforcement getting the same kind of sentence as someone that was not. That's fair. I don't like the way the laws have twisted up things but I do want them applied the same to EVERYONE, no matter what the position they hold in our society all the way up to president. No one should be exempt from the same laws and punishments.
I just don't like seeing in the news that someone in a position of power over others, forced the person in the position of no power to perform sexual acts on them, then they get 6 months probation and their job of power back. To me it doesn't matter if the person that is being bullied is over the age of majority, a position of power is a position of power, if you abuse that power doesn't matter if it is against a child or an adult it should be punished the same, for the person took advantage of their power. That is the crime...
If the decision is made to not hang them, that's fine but it shouldn't be less punishment than any teacher that was convicted of 'abusing their power' with the students.
