Not sure about California but here in pa when my husband was sentenced they gave him a date to report to the prison . It was about a month later. Good luck. My husband got 11 and half months for one count of cp. but with good behavior he will be out in 10 months.

I understand your fear. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees and no way to know what will happen until it does happen. Much depends on the judge. As difficult as it may be, until then, take care of yourself - go for walks, try to get out of the house, take care of details you will need to in the event you are incarcerated. Use the time wisely and be prepared as best you can for whatever may happen. All the best.

Once the sentencing happens be prepared to go in custody.

In wisconsin when one one gets sentenced, their bail is revoked and go directly to jail.

In lesser crimes they may have the option to report. But dont count on that.

Question for you west as a former police officer, if the judge put out a warrant for Corvus what steps would you recommend to take to not get arrested before he enters his plea?

Not answer the door, unless you step outside your house it's very unlikely the cops will get a search warrant to enter your house for this right?

Would parking your car in the garage or blocks away so they don't know if you are home or not be a good idea?

Maybe even leave town for the next 6 days but leave in the middle of the night?

if you personally go to court and enter the plea there's a good chance you will be remanded into custody until sentancing, so be prepared. until then i wouldn't worry

sorry i forgot, also prepare a cover story for yourself and make it good enough so you can stick to it throughout. also, try to get a letter from your attorney corroborating your cover story. it could help during your incarceration with other inmates.

I was told, because I am facing a federal charge, that if I was taken into custody after I changed my plea that I would be sent to a federal detention center and placed in a pc ward until sentencing.

Does anyone know if that is correct?

Corvus - in what manner did you change the plea? Also, does not the plea deal include whether or not you go to prison? I am a little confused about that ....I thought in a plea it specifically says ... you agree to plea guilty for the lesser punishment of etc. etc.

For me they did sentencing on the same day I entered my plea.

Hey Corvus, federal case out of virginia here so I know what you are going through. I remember my initial not guilty plea and then changing when the feds offered their deal. I think I signed my deal in June and then had sentencing in August...seems like so long ago. I was on house arrest during the pre-trial time, and never knew from one hearing to the next where I may have been going. It's stressful! Coming from the LE side too i never knew if that worked for me or against me, but the judge was very fair in the end. Good luck to you and hope we hear from you often - means you're still around!

Hello advocate

My plea deal lists the federal guidelines for suggested time.

My lawyer says that the process is I go in and on the same day there are 2 judges. First to have charges presented and then later that same day I "change my plea" before the second judge.

After that, 90 days or so, there is the sentencing.

My concern is in relation to the judge that I "change my plea" to. Can I get house arrest or something before the sentencing, 90 days later or will I be immediately taken into custody and have to wait for the sentencing
