My son was home. If he actually came to the house the dogs always bark and my son knows there's someone there. My big dog just doesn't like him at all.
Maybe he never came by and he was lying about it.
Up north the PO's had to leave a card whenever they visited and I was not home. In SC they don't do that.... or haven't yet. I know from the cameras when they've tried and make a point of staying home until they return.
Seems like leaving a card would be required, for proof that he did come by. That's a good idea. I'll have to see if it's supposed to happen here.
I think the PO is full of it. And putting up the security camera will help in any future instances. The PO is not going to like this. He doesn't want me to talk to him, because I support my son and tell the PO that my son is innocent and doesn't want to have sex with children.
And tomorrow , we're going to hire a new lawyer. The PO hates that as well.
My son has yet to hit his 1st year done on supervised released, that happens Jan 4th. The PO's attitude from knowing it all and is now more defensive and unprofessional. We've already had to deal with the 'No SO treatment' that he fought, and we won. I have a short list that I will be talking to the lawyer tomorrow about. I'm not rich by any means. I've been poor most of my life. But I will spend every penny I have to fight back these unconstitutional restrictions.
The PO is supposed to be there to help support my son get a life. I want to try to help him out. I'm only 4'11, 58 y.o. with white hair. I'm always looked at like I'm not a threat, but I'm a bear and I'm ready for the fight. My son stays quiet (and so do I) and follows the rules. But we won't lay down and take bull shit. My son has rights and they need to be defended.
Depending on the charge some PO's will not allow cameras. That doesn't omit non-working or fake cameras although they make you prove it. I have a friend whose refused him having any cameras.
A good PO is there to help you rehabilitate... A bad one is there to violate you. You have to play their game. Failure to do so will only bring you grief. Put another way would be would you rather be in jail or suffer some PO oppression? I know it sucks but it was a trade off you made in a plea agreement or court order.
Filing any complaint will only make it worse. It shouldn't be that way but that is the way of the world... or at least our small part of it. The only option is to lay low and stay out of the radar and live out the probation.
Once that's done you get back at least some resemblance of a normal life. Try to think of it being a "Better jail" than what you would have received. That's the way I look at it for me. I like my bed better than theirs...
There is a light at the end of the tunnel!
(:?)
My son was sentenced in Floriduh.
When he first got here he saw another PO because his was on vacation and he urged my son to petition the court to get that lowered because he felt it was excessive.
The camera will be out in the street near the front door. We live in Philly. We like to protect ourselves and our neighbors from crime. Including BS the PO throws out. And this is My house, so they're my cameras. If my son lived alone.. maybe I could see it, maybe.
The PO also gave him permission to have a monitored computer but my son has yet to open the box. He doesn't want to deal with it yet.
Being on probation is not a resemblance of normal life. My son belongs to a Kung Fu school in Chinatown. This is the only thing that gets him out of the house. They do a lot of things. This week they're all going to NY for a feast with grandmasters' wife. He can't go. They're going to China next year, he can't go. His sister lives in Chicago, would be nice if he could go visit.. but that takes a 'safety plan' which is more bull , and a month's planning. It's just not right.
We're nice to him, but we still have lawyers and I'm going to pay them to do anything they can to make my son's life normal again.
Unfortunately safety plans are just part of the process. Once you have done one it isn't hard to do more. And the nice thing is once it's in place for his sister he shouldn't have to do much the next time he goes to visit Her on Chicago.
What do you do when you're in a bathroom and a child comes in. Well? What does any normal person do?
To say 'get out of there quick' is just another admission that you can't be trusted being near a child. I don't like it and I think that No One should do it if they're not a threat to children.
He's never gone to visit in Chicago. Getting off a plane and having them pull you out because you're marked an SO is not something he wants to go thru. And it would still take a month of preparation. It's inhuman.
Also , we rent. I can tell the PO the owner put them up . I'm not worried about that, nor will I ask permission to do it.
Nobody likes making safety plans but they are somewhat of a two way street in that making one and adhering to it does help protect the person under supervision to a certain extent.
Using your restroom example as an example of a "high risk" situation all it takes is an accusation from or about a child and a registrant is in deep trouble. The smartest thing any registrant can do in that situation is leave ASAP and that has nothing to do with whether they can be trusted around children or not. The registrant cannot trust anyone else in the restroom to stand up for him or be honest if an accusation is made so by following a safety plan and removing himself from that situation he is protecting himself from the possibility of being accused.
I've seen similar things happen twice now. In both cases there were accusations and there was questioning for both of course along with an "incident" polygraph for one. One guy had a safety plan and followed it to the letter while the other one didn't. I'll give you three guesses as to which one was not violated and put back in prison. The incident polygraph was for the one with a safety plan. I'm sure it sucked having to take it but he passed easily which lead to police going back over security footage paying attention to the time he was actually alone with a minor which amounted to less than 30 seconds. Not enough time for what he was accused of doing and so was left alone after that.
I have no idea if the other guy actually did anything wrong or not. Officially he was violated for being around a child without permission.
My son doesn't use public restrooms.
But to your point, leaving the situation is ok with me. But to write it up.. as if you know you may want to have sex with a child left alone, is just admitting guilt.
I don't see where taking a poly and making a safety plan is ever a good thing for someone who is not interested in children. To say that these things are good, I just don't get it. None of it is good.
