HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – You may think of child pornography as something that could never hit close to home, or some uncommon perversion. Now a new study is shedding light on the prevalence of child pornography in the United States.
The findings are unsettling.
The study focused on just one file-sharing program, Gnutella, over the course of one year. They found that just under 250,000 computers in the US were sharing and receiving images of child pornography.
“What it tells me is there are people you would not suspect involved in this,” said Chris Newlin, Executive Director of the National Children’s Advocacy Center.
For more perspective, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has collected more than 60 million images of child pornography from the internet. They have identified less than one percent of the victims.
Newlin points to a lack of resources available to national and local law enforcement agencies to address, and track down people disseminating images depicting sexual abuse of children.
He stresses the need is great and urgent. For every person who would claim to just ‘look’ at the images, Newlin suggests a much graver reality.
“If someone has this stuff on their computer, there’s a very high likelihood they have abused children. Not just a child. Children.”

GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) in our foods - basically in all grocery shelf foods. Children the most vulnerable to their effects. Government subsidized corn, soy and cotton. Almost 100% of these crops in the US is now GMO and required large applications of the very toxic glyphosate herbiside and the crops DNA has been bombarded with DNA from non plant species.
Immunizations - More and more of them required by age 5. Somewhere around 30 I think. Many children permanently damaged from these cocktails of poisons
Pharmaceutical drugs - Many children required to take meds for ADHD and depression, with dire side effects, some commit suicide.
I am sure there are many more examples but these are a few I am aware of. I know some of them are controversial, but the truth is we are no longer a free nation. Big corporations using government funding and/or mandated laws are killing us, and it starts when we are born.
As far as the issue of men and sexuality, it does appear that there is an attack on men and male sexuality. Yes, of course it is wrong to harm others in any way for sexual pleasure and yes that holds true especially when it comes to innocent children. That is a NO BRAINER. Violent crimes must be punished. But things are getting so out of hand and what we are doing in this country with our sex offender laws is not even helping to prevent sexual abuse. There is something else a-foot here that is diabolical. I think it has to do not only with greed but also an agenda from somewhere to destroy the family unit. Shaming and blaming men is part of the plan to destroy the stability of our families and therefore the stability of our nation. Yes, punish the violent criminals and help then to not re-offend is that is possible. Shaming someone for life over some minor offense is not an effective tool to prevent future harm.
How many children are damaged when their fathers are taken away to jail and thrown on the SO registry for some minor offense that would only require some thoughtful counseling and some restorative justice. How many children are hurt when a family member is registered on a world wide hit list of monsters? This must be very confusing for children, it's bad enough to experience this as an adult.
Children are the emotional hook used to sell public opinion and to market propaganda to the masses. It is just very sad how ignorant and blind we really are. I think one of the best ways to help our children is by teaching them the TRUTH, and not allowing them to be duped by anyone, no matter what. That includes men, women, public opinion and governments.
I agree with Rew, we are a laughable nation at this point and it is not about protecting children, it is about money , power and greed.

Your discussion of social "wars" is another good example of how far wrong we have gone. Truth is, you tend to get what you focus on. When you make something into a war, you make it into a struggle. You push solutions away in order to believe that you can actually "win". But there is no "winning" a social issue. Social issues shift according to the actions and thoughts of those who would like to see things differently, not those who "fight".
There are real solutions to problems like child pornography, but not by fighting a war. First, you have to visualize your outcome…like an internet without child porn. Then, determine solutions based on shifting the conditions that create it and create the desire for it.
To arrest people after the fact and make a big show out of it is regressive. You never get to the root of the problem and it simply continues. Hmmm….perhaps some people make big bucks trying to trick the fearful public into thinking this could possibly work…
Anyway, if we had REAL concern for children, these "wars", parades of stings, and fear-mongering ways would change. But, no, the concern is not for children. Its for the BIG BUCKS and the bang people get from showing off their worthless material wealth.
I know this is a rant, but watching society become more and more selfish over the years has been really frustrating. This sex offender crap really takes the cake!
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children maintains the database of hash values for known CP images and the catch? They are the only group legally allowed to handle CP which in turn means they are the only group that can legally generate the hash values. It would have been illegal for Google or Microsoft to generate a similar database and for years access to the NCMEC database was restricted to law enforcement only. It's only been in the last year or so that a handful of outsiders have been given access.which has led to the recent reports you have noticed.
On a side note it's technically illegal for law enforcement to handle CP as anything other than contraband and they should never initiate contraband image transfer even though they do during investigations.
I remember a few years back some guy got caught with some porn images of a porn star named "Little Lupe." She is some Latina gal who looks young.
When it went to trial, the prosecutor called a pediatrician as a witness who stated that the photos and videos of "Little Lupe" were definitely an underage person.
Whoa!!! In comes a porn star to the rescue. They flew Little Lupe in and she testified to her actual age and the fact that she was over 18.
I laughed so hard when I read that. I wonder what Mr. Pediatrician thought about that?
Anyway, the prosecution had no alternative but to drop the charges.
A lot of prosecutors use a pediatrician as a "hired gun" in these cases. They will often use the same pediatrician over and over and over---as they know he will always testify against the defendant.
These child sex trials and child porn investigations are not about the truth. Much like solicitation cases, these situations are all about money and keeping their arrest record up so they can continue to enjoy the fruits of federal money in the form of grants.
