But, But, all these three lettered agencies (FBI, ICE, etc.) still have an insatiable appetite for a money source and massive budgets, so what do we do? After all, they need their $60,000 SUVs, their polygraphs, and all their extra officers to fight the scourge of cybercrime.
We introduce our new "war", the War on Child Pornography. The War on Drugs has morphed into the War on Child Pornography.
All these federal law enforcement agencies and the local cops need to keep a war built on false pretenses going to ensure that they continue to receive these million dollar federal grants. Just as they did in the War on Drugs, the media has traumatized and propagandized an entire nation into thinking that millions and millions of images of men having sex with children is common place on the Internet and of course, we need to put a halt to all the "perverts" and "pedophiles" who trade these vile pictures and videos on the Internet.
This country needs a "war" against something at all times to justify all the money spent. If there is no real problem, you can bet they will invent one, as they have in the case of child pornography.
Everyone in law enforcement has fallen in love with these fake "wars" and everyone benefits----except the curious young man or the older guy who is bored and has nothing to do but "explore" to see what all is on the Internet. The young men and they older, bored guy pays---and pays dearly.
Nobody attempts to stop the War on Child Pornography because too many have a financial stake in keeping this madness going. Prisons, COs, local cops, polygraphers, companies who make GPS units, and psychologists all have job security and receive grants in the form of money by being involved with the War on Child Pornography, not to mention organizations such as National Center for Missing and Exploited Children who receive their piece of the pie.
So this War on Child Porn will not go away until the public wises up as they did with some of the marijuana laws in the War on Drugs.
When this new war does abate somewhat, you can bet your soul that we will have a new and improved war to take its place, even if we have to invent one.
It has become the American way.

We have to keep our prison system, both state and federal, at full capacity at all times, so why not convict and send people to prison for a crime which the public is being told is so repulsive and egregious as child pornography? After all the private prison corporations with their lobbyists donated vast amounts of money to these politicians' campaigns, so they continue to pass laws that will benefit these corporations who donate.
I don't have a problem with the system convicting and imposing a very long sentence against people who manufacture child pornography. What just burns my butt---and one reason I continue in this fight----is that they are using our young men as pawns in their game and families are made to suffer. Young men like Nak's son, or Jackie Cook's son, or many of the other ladies I talk to are having their lives literally ruined by these laws.
It is too damn bad that our Department of Justice could not go after the Wall Street bankers and other financial corporations who helped create our economic problems with the same zeal that they use on our citizens for LOOKING---merely looking----at a naughty picture. But that would be biting the hand that feeds them, wouldn't it?
This country has become a complete joke.

I venture to say that if you took away every law that made having sex with those who are under the age of legal consent, you would find a very - very large number of men who currently preach against such, having sex with them.
This is supported by the fact the study alleges that “What it tells me is there are people you would not suspect involved in this” and thus, it appears that many who condemn underage sex do so because it is the politically correct thing to do, to conceal what they are doing.
I do not prescribe the belief that men should be raked over the coals because they had sex with a person under the age of legal consent, i.e. high school kids, when the kid knew that what they were doing was a violation of law. Kids are not stupid and we should stop acting like they are when it comes to sex.
I believe that these high school kids that have sex with their teachers or other adults know full well what they are doing, and some deliberately lie about their age to insure they can have sex with an adult because they know that if the adult knows their real age, they will not have sex with them.
I also dissent against the argument that if you were sexually assaulted as a child will automatically end up becoming an adult perpetrator as well, as this also demonizes the victim and sets the stage that we can somehow justify attacking them when they are men

We used data gathered via investigative “RoundUp” software to measure a year of online child pornography (CP) trafficking activity by U.S. computers on the Gnutella peer-to-peer network. The data include millions of observations of Internet Protocol addresses sharing known CP files, identified as such in previous law enforcement investigations. We found that 244,920 U.S. computers shared 120,418 unique known CP files on Gnutella during the study year. More than 80% of these computers shared fewer than 10 such files during the study year or shared files for fewer than 10 days. However, less than 1% of computers (n = 915) made high annual contributions to the number of known CP files available on the network (100 or more files). If law enforcement arrested the operators of these high-contribution computers and took their files offline, the number of distinct known CP files available in the P2P network could be reduced by as much as 30%. Our findings indicate widespread low level CP trafficking by U.S. computers in one peer-to-peer network, while a small percentage of computers made high contributions to the problem. However, our measures were not comprehensive and should be considered lower bounds estimates. Nonetheless, our findings show that data can be systematically gathered and analyzed to develop an empirical grasp of the scope and characteristics of CP trafficking on peer-to-peer networks. Such measurements can be used to combat the problem. Further, investigative software tools can be used strategically to help law enforcement prioritize investigations.
I say, take all that $, personnel, and all resources, put it into tracing the actual makers of CP!! But nope, they gotta have their "power" and "perks", so in my opinion, they don't really do the job. So they are harming the children just as much as the manufacturers. Because, with all the high tech equipment we have today, there is no way they can't trace it down. If nothing else, trace the money received from these sites, and you will eventually get to the person responsible.
But as RED stated, they got to have a war of some kind going on!!!
Truly sad!!!

In order to get all these laws passed and to help law enforcement (the "good" guys ha ha) stop child porn, they have to constantly remind the citizens that they are only protecting the children and the children's welfare is at stake here. At the same time they demonize anyone downloading child porn as a "predator" or "pedophile."
Yet the same country, the USA, that purports to love children so much has no qualms blowing the arms and legs off innocent children with a drone in Yemen or cutting off food stamps to low income families, which includes children. Or invading a country without provacation and causing the displacement of thousands of children.
It is all about money, power, and greed.
What a laughable nation this country has become.

They speak to every image that a person holds re-victimizes the child. I wonder who thought up that saying - it was so catchy. I would guess that the use of drugs has harmed way more children that viewing/possessing CP.
The primary demographic for those that view/possess CP are educated white males. Yes, it is about money. There was this article I read a couple of years ago that talked about witch hunts and how there were so many more witches prosecuted where it was financially lucrative.
They looked into my son's computer and saw he had 2335 downloaded videos. Only they didn't look close enough because if they did they would have seen they were mostly all music videos. The search warrant says they were all 'suspect' cp.
