Pitiful. Downright disgusting to the core.
More than anything else in this country we need lawmakers with political courage. It rarely happens because politicians are too busy pandering to the masses to take a stand and do what’s right.
There was absolutely no reason to veto this bill. Read the lame excuses the governor gave for vetoing a bill that would do nothing but give juveniles who had committed a sex offense a better chance to move on with their lives.
Must we always stomp and kick someone when they are already down and disenfranchised? Is that becoming the American way??

A woman got up who represented an organization that "protected children". She was in favor of this ruling to "protect the children". Well, I guess some children count more than others. I felt like I'd been punched in the stomach. I used to teach elementary school. Even the "bad boys" deserved our love and guidance. It saddens me that our system has become so helpless that in order to protect some, we have to destroy others. Of course, when you play on the "see-saw", the only way to go up is to make the other person go down. Non one can stay on the top because there is constant tension to go back down. The only way to stop that game is to get off the see-saw.
That's why I support the public health approach. When we view everyone's needs as important (for example, all children are CHILDREN, not victims and perpetrators.), the see-saw stops. This is the only way to change this in my opinion.
