How dare they ask them for photos of their children! Not without a warrant A...H.... - there is a silver lining here! Those wonderful friends that did not give in to the sex offender hysteria! Good for them!!!

Please tell me there is not a judge in the country that would give them a warrant to get photos of friends kids without any other probably cause!?? In fact, I do not think they could even use that as evidence anyway - anyone that has posted pics of their kids on the internet should know by now it makes those photos fair game for use by anyone! There is a positive, that your friends all basically told them to screw off, and then immediately called you to let you know they had been visited. They are on a fishing expedition. Take the advice given above, nothing without a search warrant, and not a word without your lawyer present.

You are under no obligation to talk to law enforcement ever. The only thing you EVER---ever----have to do is identify yourself by name and give them your address. Other than that, keep quiet even if they have an arrest warrant.

If they want to ask you some questions, you tell them you do not talk to law enforcement without your attorney present. After you tell them you do not want to talk without your lawyer, THEN SHUT YOUR MOUTH AND DO NOT SAY ANOTHER WORD.

If they knock on the door, you are not even obligated to answer. Under no circumstances should you let them into your house without a warrant.

I don't know if I would even answer the door, but if something happens that they are at the door and you see them, crack the door and tell them you do not talk to law enforcement without an attorney.

Do NOT step out on the porch. Stay behind your door in the house. Stay within the safety of your home.

Of course, you may not realize this, but their other goal with the questioning your friends is to intimidate them if your husband should ever need them to testify on his behalf.

Potential witnesses are not so eager to get involved when they have been visited by federal agents. This may not have been the primary goal, but federal law enforcement knows that their presence scares the hell out of people.

So sorry this happened to you. This is pathetic. Too many people watch those stupid TV shows about "law and order" and think they are real. Worse, too many policemen watch that stuff and think it is their job to intimidate the public.

Stay strong, that's what the police do - they look to intimidate people and create a volatile environment. They want your friends to alienate you in the event that those friends ever serve as character witnesses, and they want you to feel unsafe and alone so you'll talk to them. Under no circumstances should you speak to these people without a lawyer. They will tell you they're on your side, they'll tell you that they want your husband to get off easy, they will tell you that they want to help you - DO. NOT. LISTEN. They want information, and they want an easy conviction, and they will twist your words (no matter how innocent) to get it.

I know this is an incredibly difficult time for you, but try to keep your chin up. This is what they do, this is common, and this too shall pass. Sending hugs your way.

JL22 is spot on, when my house was raided (they had a search warrant), they woke my son up out of a sound sleep. He woke up to a cop standing over him, gun drawn and pointed at him. They took him out to the sunporch, "talked" to him for over 2 hours, got him to admit to everything. They told him that they didn't want him, they wanted "the big fish", that if he cooperated with them he would most likely just get probation, the court would take into account the fact that he cooperated, etc, etc, etc. He had never been in trouble before, had no idea what to do, he believed them when they lied to him. He is currently serving 10 years.

Also keep in mind, the moment you say you want a lawyer they are supposed to stop questioning you.

It may not seem it right now, but you will get through this.

These federal agents and the people of other law enforcement just irk the hell out of me.

As in Kitty's son's case, they told him he would get off easy and just get probation if he co-operated. Yeah, they "helped" him, all right-----helped him find an easier way to go to prison.

Folks, law enforcement are NOT judges. They cannot promise anything like a lenient sentence or a good deal. Only the court and judges can do that. What really irritates me is that they know damn well they are lying when they tell people such lies.

Always remember this about law enforcement-----Law enforcement is only ever interested in talking to three groups of people---1) Victims of a crime, 2) Witnesses to a crime, and 3) Suspects in a crime.

You know if you are a victim or a possible witness. If you are NOT a victim or a witness, then you can bet you are a suspect and on their radar.

Use your Constitutional right and remain silent. Don't ever talk to these people except to identify yourself. They are not interested in your side of the story so keep your mouth shut.

Always tell them that you do not talk to law enforcement without an attorney and you do not wish to speak to them.

Some people under pressure don't know how to say this, so I will give you the exact words----"Officer I never speak to law enforcement without my attorney present. I am invoking my Fifth Amendment right."

Some people don't want to invoke their right to remain silent because it might make them mad at you and they might think you are guilty.

Hell, they already dislike you since you are a suspect and you can be sure that they already think you are guilty, so shut up.

True - I have actually heard cops say that when a detainee asks for a lawyer they see it as a sign of guilt!! That is something wrong with our system that LE sees it as a sign of guilt when a citizen knows and evokes their rights!
