OMG! is that even a real newspaper???? Are they nuts??????? I am going to try to get a hold of FAC and have this paper sent a media packet and a letter addressing the sensationalism ... that article is no better than the Enquirer tabloid??

Ok someone better with numbers needs to look at this - my first impression is that the numbers they are posting do not make sense - when they tell about how many were freed etc. they say 5 were freed but then say 524 committed new sex crimes?

OK. Don't jump on me. I'm sure these stories are real. We all know these things happen. This is nothing new.

The problem is that the information is so skewed to one side. For example, the graph about "repeat offenders" is incredibly misleading. It takes longitudinal statistics and makes it look like it is happening all at once.

There is no comparison to those who did not reoffend. How many of those released did not reoffend? Where were these people released from anyway? Were they released from long jail sentences? Were they released from civil commitment? What was the nature of these "reoffenses"?

This is slimy yellow journalism at its best. You have to wonder what the Sun Sentinal is. I would venture to guess that this outfit exists but is bankrolled by the "Geo Care Group".

that is what i was saying - those number are screwed up - but guess what? This is a division of the Orlando sentinel the main paper of central Florida and guess what? My sister brought the paper over today and that article and its headline is bold big and in red on the front page! the bastards!

Thats just Crazy. How one sided do you have to be??? My husband is inthere for a sex crime and it's his first time ever being in jail and I can tell you it's damn sure going to be his last. Not everyone is a repeat offender. I would love to know how many didn't do it again? I would also love to know where they are getting there info from? holy slanted batman. Not everyone is a monster. Not everyone did this to be terrible. Thats just crappy jounalism if you ask me. and besides in every state they have an issue with sex offenders, why focus on Fl??? if that was my family in the paper I would be pist. How dare they pop off there mouth like that.

It's just media bull shyte..."Sex Offender" sells...This paper, like most others will exploit ANYONE that will sell papers, ie, 'Make Money'....When a politician is hurting for votes, he/she will propose some lunatic SO law just for voted.....After 10 yrs of this nonsense I just shake my head.....
Look up the US dept of Justice Stats that show SO recidivism is 5-7 percent. one step above murderers, most other offences are in the 60= percentile....

Well they should find something else to" boost" there crap. I know i just get sooo mad. what happened with my husband was an accident and there making it seems soooo much worse then what it was. It's so unfair. SO pay there time like everybody else but they always get Sh*t on. why not someone with real hatered who intentionally do this stuff.
