Gotcha Aladdin, you are saying the CP could just be the 13 year old and that's it. So it may not be connected to the other guy?

@Independent That's exactly what I'm saying. It isn't so much a matter of what the documents say as what they don't say. They make claims but then don't provide anything substantiating most of the them. The only two claims that have any real backing concern victim 13. One is that he had sex with her when she was still a minor. Backing that is her statements to investigators and text messages she apparently saved for several years which included Fogle's request for a nude picture or pictures of her that she provided to him. Supposedly the text messages also include Fogle asking her if she knew any younger prostitutes and apparently she did but the only thing linking Fogle to actually engaging in sexual conduct with that younger prostitute is a statement from victim 13.

The illegal photo victim 13 sent to Fogle has to be the basis for his CP charge because it's the only image out of all the claims that can be conclusively linked to Fogle as one of the documents says it was found on one of his phones as well. What's conspicuously absent from the rest of the CP related claims is any similar comment about any of it being found in Fogle's possession. Nothing even says Fogle viewed any of it on a personal possession. Instead it says Fogle viewed it on a laptop belonging to the other guy, Taylor! The charging information is also worded to account for just one illegal image. It covers a very broad range of dates and says that Fogle had "at least one" illegal image, not five or ten or twenty but one. If there was any real evidence linking Fogle to the images of the other 12 victims there would be a lot more CP charges and they would state the number of images Fogle was actually caught with which would be a lot more than "at least one"

Do I think Fogle is innocent? No I don't but I've read far too many cases not to recognize smoke and mirrors prosecution when I see it and except for victim 13 that's what I'm seeing here.

Fair enough. If he only got 1 count of cp for a relationship with a very underaged prosititute then it might not be a terrible deal right?

My question to everyone who thinks something fishy is going on here is why did he take a plea so fast? Most cp crimes as we have talked about recently, take quite a while to process. As rew suggested on another thread the fed's delayed the sentencing of Taylor most likely to get him to give them meat for their case against Jared.

The fact that Jared's lawyers recommended he take a plea deal this fast without waiting longer or going to trial strongly suggests that the Feds would have no problem proving their case against Jared.

I do agree with you Aladdin that it could very well be only the 13 year old, but it also could be much more that since he took the plea deal isn't going to come out now. We were a long time before trial on Jarred's case so they would've had plenty of time to still investigate and add more charges.

What is interesting is that the FBI has their undercover spy recording conversations for 4 and one half years! I have never seen an SO case this long.

This case has got a long way to go before the facts are really known. We are all speculating from a position of nothing. I'm sure with his wealth and highly paid lawyers, he is taking the path of least resistance. From what I read just the first 2 counts add up to 70 years without the plea deal.

We have much to learn yet... Much of it to come from Taylor. I presume.. It is highly unusual for a case to fast-track like this if they weren't so sure of their facts.

I think even with money, these kinds of cases are hard to win. My hubby was at county with someone who paid $30,000 for his attorney and he got the same deal as hubby's $3,500 attorney got him, and hubby had more charges than the other guy.

And yes, I realize Fogle could afford way more than $30,000 for an attorney. I still think the EWW factor makes it very hard to win these cases at trial.

Think about this too - if the investigation was going on that long it means that for 4 and a half years the Feds were willing to potentially let other minors be abused for the sake of building their case - this is not about protecting minors it is about the notch on the feds belt

10 years?! And the FBI got involved because she told them Jared said middle school girls are hot?! I'm not dismissing the creep factor there but really, that's all it takes to start an FBI investigation?

If she's 17, what's the problem? The legal age of consent in Indiana is 16.

I think you are maybe not seeing the point I was trying to make about high priced lawyers. Of corse when the Feds or state has you dead to rights there is nothing a high priced lawyer can do. That's why guys with 30,000 lawyers ended up with the same deal as 3,500 lawyers. My point was the fact that Jared too a plea so fast means that he was most likely dead to rights. A high powered attorney knew that there was no way to fight the charges and told him to plea. If a lawyer thought there was a chance to win and could bill 500 an hour, it seems much more likely they would've fought it. But since the plea happened so fast it shows how bad the defense case for Jared was in my opinion.
