this is not trying to pick on you lulugirl3 or put you down in anyway, but there are some things that i do not agree with.
"An adult should NEVER abuse a child in any way or form....NEVER. "
this is where the registry is horrible. it doesn't distinguish between someone who was 18 with a 15 or a 40 year old with a 15. logically the 18 year old is an adult and the 15 year old is a child. an 18 year old adult can still be in high school and the 15 year old would also be in high school. would you consider them peers? here's another question for you.... how about 28 and 15? my (adopted) grandparents were 20 years apart. they got married at the age of 36 and 16, and they lived in Minnesota on a farm. this was back in the early 1910's. Laura Engles (don't know if that spelled right) Wilder got engaged at the age of 14 to an 18 year old then got married at the age of 18. i could probably mention a ton more people who (if in this age) broke the law or by your meaning "been with at least one underage...." personally i don't understand why people need to cheat...i mean your husband had you, and he didn't consider that lucky? man, i wish i had a good woman in my life, because really i know i wouldn't have offended in the first place, nor the second.
i am sorry if it sounds like i'm picking on you, as i don't mean to. it's just i think the registry needs to not be public and it should include the age of the person and the victim/victims at the time of the offense.
$10, 000 fine and 500 hours community service. He does all that is required for the PO, just not for us. He is a considered mentor in his group.
Politicians are so hypocritical and so worthless. When they want to get support for some sex offender legislation, they all shout from the rooftops, "THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!! If it saves one child this law will have been worth it."
But what about the children of sex offenders??? Do they not count??? They cannot be held responsible for what mommy or daddy may have done to be on the registry. Is it fair to the children of sex offenders to punish them in this manner??? And is it fair to punish a wife or girlfriend of a sex offender for being in love with that sex offender???
Whenever I hear someone play the THINK OF THE CHILDREN card I know that either they are going to try to pass some laws to take away our privacy on the internet or they are getting ready to pass some sex offender legislation---and they need the public's support.
This is all BS. If the politicians really cared for the children of this nation, we would see sweeping legislation to provide better education, better health services, and more support for our kids. They don't care that much about the children---all they care about is getting re-elected.
I think most of the people on this board are decent people who are just trying to get through this mine field called the sex offender registry. I spent three years of my life defending this country in the jungles of Vietnam, and I would do it again to defend the kind of people that post on this board.
But I would not walk across the street to defend a politician---and btw DAs are politicians too.

If you answered NO to any of those questions, then how can anyone justify a public registry? If you want to know the naked truth, WE ARE ALL ON A REGISTRY its called Social Security, it is tied to every loan you get, car you drive, home you own, job you work, and so on. We are on more than one registry too, if you have any kind of State photo ID you are on a registry. How many do you think we as a country really needs?
There is no reason for a registry, they are keeping track more than you know.
I understand the pain and anger you must feel. If my husband of 40 years had ever cheated, I "think" it would be the end of our relationship.
However, I take offense to some of your comments. Our son was charged for having contact (no intercourse) with a 16 year old girl. She contacted him, she pursued him.
Orignally, one count. When he refused the plea, (he would have served 6 months in jail) they stacked the charges.
He went to trial, he was convicted on all 5 counts. He was in prison for three years. He was on a ankle braclet for three years. He is a life time registrant because our state does not have levels. Every registrant is lumped together.
So just because someone was accused or convicted of more than one count, means nothing to me. They can (and do) charge you with more than one count even if it was a one time incident.
By the way, I was 17 (a minor) when I dated my wonderful husband. He was 22.
The public registry should be obolished. Mostly because of the children of those on it, and also because those on it become a target of violence. .
In some states 17 is not a minor.
I am also very sorry for your son. The system is a mess and it just gets worse.
no one deserves to be treated like you have...
I want to add that I too am very sorry for all that you and your son are going through. Your husband betrayed you in the worst possible way.
You and your son are the "true victims"!
