The inmate goes down to central control, they have you sign a few pieces of paper, they fingerprint you, and you are on your merry way. All three COs there even shook my hand and wished me good luck.
It took me less than 15 minutes. Dad was on the parking lot, so I picked up my box of property and we left.
Of course, I had no probation or paper time. When I discharged my sentence, the state was finished with me, except for registration.
A very painless process, but one that you can never forget.

I just answered in the thread about getting off the federal registry.
Great news to hear he is getting out.
I was in Coleman too. He definitely will get out in the morning. The only time they will do it at night is if there is a court order for an immediate release.
As crazy as it sounds I had the same situation where the release date was a Sunday and got out on friday. To beat them out of those two days felt so good if you can imagine, and I guess you can.
If there is any way you can do it, I would try to get your son to move and live in Oregon. From everything I've read they have most reasonable approach to the whole registration issue.
I know your family wants to be around him at this time and it is understandable, as I got out in the beginning of November back in 2005 for the Holidays. It does make it special, that's for sure.
Maybe he can get into a college out there, that would be really good.
Good Luck..
Each day getting out earlier is like a win for some reason. He's moving here to Philly.. for so many reasons.
Every state has their issues. I've done some homework and Philly called me.
My family doesn't want to be around him. And he doesn't want to be around them, and neither do I.
And then he goes to get his picture taken for the registry. I don't know anything about that yet, or where they do that but I'm sure probation will tell him.
Rew.. Don't know if he'll want to shake their hands on the way out.
We'll get in the rental car and head out of Floriduh and never look back.
My wife walked me to the car. I got in and did not start crying until the place was out of sight. Didn't not want anyone there to see me break down.
I did my first registration at the Belmont Barracks. Went there a couple of times and found out I could do it at any SP site. Never went to Belmont again. It's a crap place.
