They let you wear denium?! We can't wear blue jeans....

It sounds a lot like Texas: two hour visits/ only on weekends/ either Saturday or Sunday. I have always dressed simply and conservatively - usually a pair of blue jeans or khaki pants and a short sleeve shirt ( nothing ever sleeveless or low cut). They let us wear open toe shoes - I usually wear sandals - but I always bring a pair of slip on shoes just in case. I ALWAYS bring a second set of clothes but they have never sent me to change.

This may be TMI but they have never given me trouble about a bra with a wire. They know that women often have these so they do a pat down and wand metal detector but have never asked me to change.

I know it's a lot of hassle but you'll forget about it once you see your son! Have a great visit!

Are the inmate's clothes blue where you are? I know they won't let us wear a solid white shirt because that is the same color that the inmates wear. I have seen them send lots of people to change if they show up in white. Maybe that's why no denim??

I think I will call back because I don't think this woman gave me all of the information. I need to find out if I can wear a colored shirt and check on the colors too. Those visiting allowances are total rip-offs! I think I saw though your son is in a private prison correct? Federal is much more lenient. That's awful to travel 6 hrs and only get to see him for 2 hrs!
Yes, when I go, I take no chances. I wear Jeans and top with 3/4 sleeves and sneakers. Of course I just wear a sports bar which looks terrible with no support (ha!) but I don't care if I get to see my son! I hope they allow you to give hugs there because you will both need it.
Another thing we can't do is wear anything tan at all and that includes tops, bottoms, jackets, etc. Because their visiting uniforms are tan and you can't be in the same color...you know you might switch places and they will escape!! lol...

In reference to Rew with the change purse, I use a clear zipped make-up bag (small). I think its much stronger than a zip-lock bag which a lot of people use. We have to put our money in there and our license - nothing else. I had a pack of those little tissues in there and they threw them away on me. Also I write down his inmate number in case I have a senior moment and can't think of it because we have to sign a log book and fill out a form and need his number. I have probably written 100's of letters to him and always remember the number then but panic I won't remember it when I walk in that door...
And I always wear socks because we have to put our shoes through the scanner and I don't want to be barefoot...so many things to know!

Debbie, yes he is in a private facility. Its a joke too! And its only 2 hours once a month! The sports bra works for me! Thanks for your information. I sure do need his hugs and I know he needs mine. Its going to be me, dad, sister and brother going to see him. I am counting down the days right now. I have 10 more days before seeing him. I am almost in tears thinking of him. I have his pictures all over in my office at my job. Ha ha Escape? LOL I guess things like that has happened before. ha ha

Aw....I know the feeling. I miss my son everyday still and tell him I love him everyday when I email him. We only talk on the phone twice a month but I love hearing his voice even if its only for 15 min. Enjoy your visit and hopefully its only one of many who will have. I know the distance is tough because I am 7+ hours away from my son so its hard. Let us know how it goes!!

Take a change of clothes with you including shoes just in case....oh and maybe as bra with no underwire in it!

Yes, the inmates wear blue, but their paints have CDCR written in orange down their pant leg.

Can't wear orange, can't wear line green, can't wear white tops, even if you have a tank under it if it's too thin and could be seen through. Can't wear anything tight or form fitting, can't wear tank tops with a sweater over it.
Half of my wardrobe I can't wear....I had to go shopping to buy clothes that I would be allowed to wear.

I was once told I couldn't wear my white denium jeans, but decided to allowed it since I had a long top. They once told a lady that her maxi skirt that was ankle length wasn't allowed as it was too form fitting. Shoot, I see more bottoms in jeans than in that skirt... And I don't care to look at girls bottoms...lol

Enjoy your visit! The dress code thing is coo coo! I got turned away for a sleeveless shirt. This week I noticed a gal in white linen pants w/ no undies. Go figure :-D

Lilly, you made me laugh! They are big about sleeveless shirts. I don't get why. I can see no low shirts and halters, etc., but sleeveless tops? I just find that to be odd, unless there is a reason for it. ????

I'm so happy for you!!!! My son is 10 hours away and with a 16 year old dog she would never make the trip. I'm so jealous - what I wouldn't give to hug my baby again!! Good for you!!!! Give him an extra kiss for me, OK?

A tip for all those who have to wear a sports/ yago bra get it a size smaller and it will give you the support...I had to wear them after my operation and it works!
I've had to tell a officer that the hand wand thing was going off on my bra clip he thought I was trying to bring something into the place!
