The younger generations considering they were not taught to really think, unless they took it on themselves to learn to think critically, are coming up with even more ridiculous rules. Partially because of developmental milestones that haven't been met yet, where you stop basing your decisions on emotions and focus more on the big picture. Due to the fact that now a days many college grads are moving back home to live with mom and dad until they are 30 or older, not striking out on their own at all. Now this is either because they lack the moxie to make it, their parents want to make it easier for them, subsequently crippling them for real life (I know people like this personally, that have really never lived on their own for more than 6 months, paying rent, utilities, etc). This is the generation that is coming next as our country's leaders. They are not prepared for life, they have a naive view of the way life is supposed to work, they also many times believe that the world is supposed to be fair. Why? because when they came through school everyone was a winner, everyone got a trophy, everyone got acknowledged, no one was 'the loser'. This kind of training and mentality will never prepare a person for the let downs and rejections of real life.

According to CNN:
The last baby boomers were born in 1964, meaning that 50 is the cutoff point for baby boomers in 2014.
http://www.cnn.com/2013/11/06/us/baby-boomer-generation-fast-facts/
Average age of congress according to slate:
www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/explainer/2013/01/average_age_of_members_of_u_s_congress_are_our_senators_and_representatives.html
Senate: 63
House: 57
Most people in congress are baby boomers, so most people writing the ridiculous laws that we face, are also baby boomers.
I can blame the baby boomers for a lot of things... but being the sole folks to blame for the laws we have? they wouldn't be hitching their wagon to the sex offender things if someone wasn't pushing it on them... Those folks are the ones who's children are namesakes for the laws we are facing... Yeah sure, now they are all hitching their wagon to the RSO stuff, but only because they learned that they got almost unanimous support from their constituents to do it. Are they all boomers too, every voting member of the public.
I always shy away from blaming any one section or group of people. WHY? because I certainly don't like ti so I try not to do it to others. They used to call it the Golden Rule, now it is just an after thought for most people. The folks in my state that are doing the majority of the damage here are in their 40's like myself... and even my federal representatives the one in Congress in my district is younger than me, and my rep is the US senate is just under 60... Which is why I can't really blame the entire generation... as my parents are boomers and they don't think like that...
As for writing the ridiculous laws... Scott Suder who is my age wrote many of the really crappy laws here in WI, he is in my district and he is like a year in age difference from me... I am not a boomer.
You are more than welcome to blame an entire generation, but really... much of their reason for writing those laws are because of the parents of dead children that those laws are named after.
I'm not saying I agree with it, nor am I saying it's ok. However, when you look at situations civilly the question is asked what is the harm, where are the damages? That is my question, where are the damages here? If both situations lead to the same end and congress can and most likely will write the FBI the equivalent of a hall pass that stops this from shocking the conscience of the courts there is no leg to stand on.
This is not the FBI's first excursion into the gray area of illegality and it won't be their last.
I am with Wisconsin on this. Regardless of the end game, it just bothers the holy hell out of me that this is allowed to happen.
Read below.
Taking over a child porn web site and running it for several weeks is not all our dear government and FBI has been up to lately.
Without getting too technical, last August they seized the servers that hosted Freedom Hosting, which contained---hosted for viewing or download--- a great deal of child porn. Once they had the servers, they planted a javascript exploit that identified every person who clicked on a link to enter those sites or actually entered them. That person's IP address and a couple of other things were sent back to a server in Virginia, which was later identified to belong to the government.
It is technical, and if a person had javascript disabled or NoScript to block all scripts they were fine, but if not, they were identified by having their IP and mac address revealed.
If you want to read more on the technical side, search for----Tor Freedom Hosting Exploit---on Google and you can read much more about it.

Now catching child porn viewers is one thing, but the way the did it is problematic in my opinion. To many computer experts, it was planting malware on the suspect's computer, pure and simple.
A couple of months after the August date, the FBI admitted in court that they were the ones that seized the Freedom Hosting servers.

But Freedom Hosting also hosted several LEGAL sites including TorMail, which was an encrypted email service which was used LEGALLY by political activists and others who did not want their email read by the government. They seized TorMail and now they have the inboxes of anyone who was using that email service. So, they also shut down some legal sites.
I believe Edward Snoweden was using TAILS, which is a bootable form of Tor and also either TorMail or Lavabit, another encrypted email service. I am sure the FBI / NSA jumped with joy and did the victory dance when they got their hands on these email accounts.
In January of this year, the FBI used the evidence in one of the seized TorMail accounts for evidence in a drug case, SO THE FBI SEIZED A LEGAL EMAIL SERVICE, TORMAIL, AND IS USING THE CONTENTS OF THOSE EMAILS---THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PRIVATE---TO PROSECUTE PEOPLE. And they sure are not asking the owners of the email accounts permission to read their mail. There is no telling what else these gangsters with badges are doing in this country.

People might think that this was a good thing, that child porn needs to be wiped off the face of the earth. But what if the government starts planting malware on people's computers who visit any sites that disagree with the government? Or what if they start to unmask people on sites like Daily Strength or any site which criticizes the government? You can see there is a slippery slope here.
This is just so unacceptable that a government agency can not only seize a legal email site, but infect other people's computers with a virus / exploit / malware. Hell, if I attempted to compromise someone's security by planting anything like the FBI did, I would be tried and convicted for computer hacking and spend 20 years behind bars.

The FBI also installed a TRACKING COOKIE on each computer so they could monitor its activity.
This might be OK to track child porn producers, but if we allow the manner in which they did it, where does it stop? Does everyone want a tracking cookie or some kind of exploit on their computer to monitor everywhere you go? Is this what it has come to???
In my opinion, it is NOT OK to do this. The true meaning of freedom sometimes means we have to put up with things we do not like---such as child porn---to maintain the freedom we have fought for over the years.
Nobody is in favor of child porn, but I fear our government much more than I fear the scourge of child pornography.
The government would like nothing better than to control the Internet---or all of the users of the Internet---under the guise that "too much child porn and child abuse originates on the Internet." Hell, that is just an excuse to persuade ignorant and complacent people to allow them to destroy what little privacy online we still have left.
